Here's another KU response from a staffer, although the website misrepresents the encounter with the SJW, stating that they over ran the YAF meeting. In actuality they were invited to debate the matter.
The complete contradiction between that guy's tweets and his bio is startling. Does the left even TRY to run with the "open-minded" and "tolerant" banner anymore, or have they finally abandoned it in the face of their reality?

I'd considered posting in this thread, but I didn't really think it mattered. Your post convinced me it's necessary, though.

As a self-proclaimed liberal, and someone who is more likely to become worked up about perceived racism/sexism/etc.-ism than many others on this board, I think the safe-space movement is really harmful to our society. I believe institutional racism exists, I believe it's probably okay to be politically correct, and I think tolerance is important. And I'm very unhappy with how many of these naive safe space advocates there appear to be. They're harmful to my personal ideals, and the ideals of the left in general, I think.

But to act like "the left" has abandoned their values of tolerance and open-mindedness because of a small group of people is the same as saying every Trump supporter is obviously a racist because David Duke and some other racists are going to vote for Trump.

              Every liberal I know.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

You summed up my thoughts on the matter beautifully. I'm pretty middle of the road politically but I shade more to the liberal side of things than conservative. But this whole notion of a safe space really is doing a disservice to these college kids for when they enter the so-called real world. It is going to be a real rough awakening and they are going to have to fight an internal battle against the microaggressions and trigger warnings that they might feel. That being said, these KU kids don't speak for the vast majority on the left and cherry picking them and making broad generalizations isn't really a fair or accurate thing to do.

Like it or not, the face of liberalism/progressivism/etc, for those that represent such in the younger generations, are these borderline insane (literally) SJW types. Whether or not you guys are comfortable with that reality is immaterial. Perception beats reality, every time.

I know many more than you would believe. True liberals are almost in lock step on this. Those more moderate to left leaning people, are not. My liberal friends, and I don't include moderates, are more closed minded than my conservative friends.

Well, someone in Lawrence apparently dialed 911 due to the debate last night according to their twitter feed. So, yeah.

The tweet says 4:31pm, so it wasn't during the debate. Could it have been pre-debate? Or perhaps it has happened before so the PD really did want to remind people?

May have happened during any of the numerous GOP debates.
