Does PA really have 700k people without any form of valid ID? I highly doubt it.

Without having to present some basic form of ID, how do you KNOW that it's "minuscule"? You are assuming it's low just as much as those worried about it are assuming it's a large-scale problem. There is an easy way to make the concern go away: Show an ID when you vote.

Kinda like those that cannot drive and have to hire a taxi to take them to the voting place. Is that expense a poll tax?

Are there states that don't allow a provisional ballot? That's what happened here last time (I saw it) this August at my polling place. The person decided to not go home and get her forgotten ID.

And there is NO WAY 700,000 people in PA are not going to be able to vote because of a lack of ID. Defense of "open voting" is so crazy, I can't believe I even brought it up....maybe I'm crazy. You have to be either insane or brainwashed to believe the Democrats.

Let's compare that % when you eliminate those that have ID. Watch the % skyrocket.

It looks like the number I read was actually 280,000 who won't be able to vote if they don't get get a new ID.

Still, getting an ID and proving who you are isn't all that complicated

There's a perfect example of something being very funny and very sad at the same time.

I think this is a prime example of how our system is messed up right now. The right has a very good point that the opportunity for fraud exists when one does not have to present any proof of identification to vote. The left has a very good point that being forced to pay for something in order to exercise the right to vote is essentially a poll tax. But how come no one looks to the damn middle ground anymore? Where is the compromise????

Simple solution. Fine, require an ID. Make IDs free to obtain. Problem solved.

This is why I'm fed up with our government right now. Everyone is so caught up trying to prove why the other guy is wrong that no one cares about finding actual solutions anymore.

Purchase a photo I.D., keep a receipt, make it tax deductable.

I agree. I like how he started off admitting his shortcomings. I actually fell asleep during Romney's speech last week and had to watch a re-run of it to hear what he actually said (which wasn't much), Obama kept me awake. And at least Obama was smart enough to mention our troops. I also liked his reference to Romans 8.

I thought the best speech at the Republican convention was given by Chris Christie (and he barely even mentioned Romney). I didn't watch much of the DNC but I did watch Clinton and Obama. They both do a much better job of giving a speech then anyone at the RNC. Clinton in particular is really good at explaining issues in a way that people can understand. He also had a lot more substance in his speech than anyone else.

I watched a lot more of the RNC but they really didn't lay out what they were planning to do. In fact after watching it I was more convinced than ever that Romney would increase the deficit instead of cut it. Romney promised to increase defense spending, and NO cuts to Medicare or Social Security and a bunch of new tax cuts. As Reagan said in 1964 (and Clinton repeated it last night) the Arithmetic just doesn't add up.
