  • 2026 Senate (one time, just for fun)

Should be locked tight for the GOP no matter what:

    Idaho
    Wyoming
    South Dakota
    Oklahoma
    Arkansas
    Mississippi
    Alabama
    West Virginia
    Tennessee

Hard lean GOP depending on who is running....work to do but certainly more likely to stay GOP:

    South Carolina
    Nebraska
    Louisiana
    Montana
Ohio (not sure where this is going to fall as they will replace Vance in 2025)

Will be marked to flip by Dems and a tough fight:

    Texas
    Kentucky
    Kansas
    Alaska
    Iowa
    North Carolina
    Maine

Races without a ton of concern for the Dems:

    Oregon
    Illinois
    Delaware
    New Jersey
    Rhode Island
    Massachusetts

Races where the wrong candidate could be vulnerable but still unlikely to flip:

    Colorado
    New Mexico
    Michigan
    Virginia
New Hampshire (should be competitive for the GOP but won't be)

Seats the Dems will have to defend vigorously:

    Georgia

So it's really going to be 7 GOP seats up for grabs and just 1 DEM seat in doubt. Hopefully the GOP can hold on.

And to a lesser degree, Trump's 2020 vote totals. There were clearly significant issues in 2020, a year when you'd have expected slightly lower turnout due to Covid.
In the long term, this turned out better for us. The Dems being a disaster will leave a nasty taste in people's mouths for a long time, and now we have a young Mr Vance waiting in the wings.

        • Please, PLEASE, let the Dems attach themselves to Harris and nominate she/her as the Dem candidate in 2028.

Given the outlier numbers from 2020's vote totals, this isn't a surprise.

Agreed this says more about the faux numbers from 2020 than it does about the numbers for 2024. Although, that is not even a consideration for Fake Yapper.

I'd also like to see 2020's state-by-state numbers compared to 2016 and 2024. If the increase is relatively distributed across all states, then MAYBE I can entertain the idea that real turnout was almost 20% higher in 2020, but I seriously doubt it.

As of now the only Dem I feel is a threat would be Shapiro (sp?), having said that, I think your going to see the entire party abandon the far left and move to the middle

He and Newsome are the only ones the Dems have.

The GOP has Vance, Haley, Gabbard, DeSantis, and heck, maybe even Ramaswamy.

                          • Crazy night! I settled in on the couch around 5pm and didn't leave until the wee hours. I mostly watched ABC because it seemed decent and was offered by Prime. I thought they did a good job and loved the benchmark comparisons. The anchor, we'll call him Mannequin Dude, wasn't unsettling. They had Rinse Preebus (wtf kindofa name..) and Christie chirping all night next to the seething black chic w/ the otherworldly hair. I also watched CBS a bit because it has the old, ugly white lady that broke down last time Trump won. She was much more composed this time. In fact, both networks were very composed and professional. ABC should have called the election earlier than they did, but no matter. They wanna keep eyes on sets so they can keep pumping the commercials. I'm sure this is a big revenue night for them.

Like I said earlier, I'm losing no matter who wins. I feel like I lost a little less with the way everything went down last night. I'll hope for the best even though we all know the guy's an Asshat, child, narcissist, liar, ignorant clown. Does that beat an "empty suit"? Check back in four years.

I think I would prefer president by committee. We can have 6 folks, a left and right wing nut, two moderates, and one independent deciding on the business of the Executive branch. I think I like that idea a lot!

I would add Byron Donalds to that list. Certainly a VP possibility. And now that Tulsi Gabbard has officially joined the Republican Party she might be a force to deal with.

                              • Donald Trump sought to undermine Tuesday the credibility of voting in the biggest city of must-win Pennsylvania, a soundly Democratic area that was part of the ex-president's unsupported 2020 fraud claims.

                                Washington:
Donald Trump sought to undermine Tuesday the credibility of voting in the biggest city of must-win Pennsylvania, a soundly Democratic area that was part of the ex-president's unsupported 2020 fraud claims.

Amid reports of exceptionally high voter turnout in Philadelphia, Trump said there was "a lot of talk about massive cheating" in the city, as an official promptly denied the claim, calling it "yet another example of disinformation."

"Law enforcement coming!!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

He provided no evidence to support his claim made as Americans voted in a tense election that polls have suggested is effectively tied between Trump and Kamala Harris.

"There is absolutely no truth to this allegation," said City Commissioner Seth Bluestein, a Republican.

"Voting in Philadelphia has been safe and secure."

I wonder if Trump will push hard to investigate all the "cheating" in Philly now that he won................................

                                What a dishonest, bloated, orange-tinted clown-turd.

Now... the 32 Russian bomb threats that shut down predominantly black polling locations for as much as an hour absolutely DID have an effect on the final tally in Georgia. I expect the Trump team will thoroughly investigate those attacks on our Democracy and hit Russia with new sanctions. I mean... if he can find the time to do so with as busy as he'll be divvying up Ukraine's blood-stained land w/ Putin and Co.
