  • Virginia Governor's Race

An interesting off-year race for the Governorship of Virginia between former democratic governor and long-time democrat hack Terry McCauliffe and republican Glenn Youngkin.

The race is surprsingly close considering Virginia is deep blue and overflowing with denizens of the DC corruptocracy.

Election Day is November 2nd. Apparently, the dems are quite concerned as they are bringing in a lot of non-Virginians to campaingn for McCauliffe including Obama, Jill I'm a Doctor Biden, Kamalala, The C'mon Man hinself is schedule to campaign this week I believe. Geogia election denier Stacey Abrams and various other "celebs" from outside of Virginia. The game plan down the stretch appears to be to bring out the 2020 election playbook claining voter suppression. They have already sued the US Postal Service for claims of disenfranchisement. I am sure this is just a ploy to set up an exteension of voting beyond November 2nd should the dems find themselves in need of a few extra votes to put McCaulffe over the top.

An interesting strategy for McCauliffe was to campaign from the pulpit, primarily in black churches, with a strategy called Souls to Polls. Although illegal the dems didn't even try to disguise it as they know that dem-controlled IRS will not go after the tax-exemptions of these black churches.

The polls indicate the races has tightened in the past month or so since McCauliffe declared in a debate and other venues that parents should have no so in what is taught to their chidlren at school. Then that has been compounded by the rape of a high school freshman girl in Loudoun County by an alphabet something or other chosing to use the women's restroom. An incident which was then covered up by the Loudoun County school board. However, Mcauliffe claims the #1 issue for voters in Virginia is access to free, unfettered abortion plus. In addition, McCauliffe has campaigned more as if he is running against Trump than against Youngkin.

While Youngkin appears to be a pretty solid candidate, polls showing the race close and the dems seemingly very concerned based on their actions, I anticipate that McCauliffe will prevail (one way or the other). But it will be interesting to see how close Youngkin can make it.

Another irony that isn't about Virginia.

MLB moved the All Star game away from Atlanta to Denver Colorado because of Georgia's extremist voter law that required a voter to have a legal ID to vote (Stacy Abrams who lobbied MLB to move the location of the game away from her state of Georgia, later said she had nothing to do with it). Ironically, the Atlanta Braves have won the National League race and brought the World Series to Atlanta for maybe a couple of weeks. Stacy Abrams and racism wins again.

Democrats lead by +2% with a couple latest polls showing tied. Definitely worth watching.

I don't believe Trump matters in this race at all

Recent polls give Youngkin some hope. Unfortunately, the polls don't factor in the ability of Democrats to magically find just enough votes to win at the last minute especially in blue states.

What's the voting like in VA? Are ballots sent out without requests? Is ballot harvesting allowed?

                    Brit Hume @brithume

Quote: “‘Guess how Glenn Youngkin is finishing his campaign?” McAuliffe told…. his final rally. ‘He is doing an event with Donald Trump here in Virginia.’ That was a lie. Trump wasn’t in Virginia and he never campaigned with Youngkin.”

Reports of Virginia Voter Suppression Surfaces as People Turned Away From Polls Over Not Wearing Masks

                        https://redstate.com/brandon_morse/2021/11/02/reports-of-virginia-voter-suppression-surfaces-as-people-turned-away-from-polls-over-not-wearing-masks-n468392

According to reports from various eye-witnesses, some voting locations are turning away voters in Virginia over not wearing masks or are trying to convince others that masks must be worn at the very least.

Washington Times writer Charlie Hurt wrang the alarm bell, reporting claims from some voters that they were being troubled by people for not wearing a mask as they lined up to vote. Hurt noted in a tweet that this was indeed illegal voter suppression and reminded voters that they may vote in any polling place in Virginia, even in schools, without a mask.

American Conservative Union President Matt Schlapp also released a tweet claiming that he was told he couldn’t vote without a mask at his polling station, and noted that this might be a sly attempt by Democrats to turn away GOP voters knowing how many feel about mask-wearing.

As highlighted by the Department of Elections on Virginia’s government website, it’s stated very clearly that masks are not required by the state in order to cast a vote:
No, we are encouraging voters to bring masks if they must show up in-person to vote. However, if someone is not wearing a face covering you may not turn him or her away. You may offer the voter curbside voting or offer them a face covering if you have any extra available. You cannot turn a voter away because they refuse to use a mask.

Do you guys REALLY think a Republican is going to win in Virginia, regardless what the polls say?

It says this right at the top of Virginia's elections website: "Absentee ballots may be accepted until noon on November 5th. Therefore, results are incomplete. Results will be certified on November 15th."

I mean results are going to start streaming in tonight with the Republican barely winning and then miraculously a massive swarm of Democrat ballots are going to start pouring in over the next few days. But juuuuuust enough mail in ballots will be found to turn the election.

How's this for voter reform? Absentee ballots must be postmarked no later than one day BEFORE election day.

Vote is on Nov 2? Absentee ballot must be postmarked Nov 1.
