If you get hungry enough you'll work. Believe me.

As far as making proper decisions... there's not an educational program on the planet that can replace a solid set of parents.

I can give you a mile's long list of quotes of church-going folk who say they are protected by either 1) The Blood of Christ or, 2) the Holy Spirit with regards to contracting the virus. They all get infected just the same. Perhaps your church is the exception. If ya'll are meeting indoors though... you're contributing to the further propagation of this disease and my point still stands.

You go to the Walmart and the grocery store indoors. Social distancing is the key.

What's wrong with the statement? Both are a general simplification of a problem (which makes them both wrong), but each is considered what left leaning or right leaning people "generally" believe. Actually, it takes both. People need education or be taught a skill, but they also have to be willing to work for a goal.

You see, it’s about free will. We all have it. As cold has shown us in the most obtrusive and mind-numbing fashion, we Must wear masks or die alone. Yet some people have not learned that lesson. As Dan Muller has shown us time and time again, hard work doesn’t bring home trophies. My beet friend in the world became an alcoholic. He knew and was taught what was wrong with his choices. He worked hard to stay sober. At the end of the day he wasn’t. We all make decisions and we get to carry the glory or shame that comes with that.

Minorities in our country have been mistreated, the president seems to be laying down certain markers. That isn't helping.

Not to say that I agree with all these protests, because I don't. But it is hard to ignore the optics of what has happened and to say that minorities don't have a right to their frustrations.

As far as your COVID examples, I think (responsible) churches ought to stay open, if casinos can't practice social distancing they ought to be shut down, too. And although I love my adult beverages, the bars (at least the ones I've seen here in South Texas) should have been shut down.

Because our governor both shut down the bars and required masks at the same time, I can't tell whether the masks are helping, whether shutting down the bars is helping or whether we needed to do both.

I know there are a number of people who get distressed about the verbalizing of some of my political positions, but my take is that we should be absolutely doing everything we can to keep the economy open. And if churches socially distance, they ought to be open, too, if they want to. If that sounds like a socialist to you, you have a warped definition of what a socialist is.

Problem is that some of the churches, particularly the evangelical ones, don't think they need to socially distance, which has had the end result of getting a lot of people sick. They are employing the same logic that the bars are. We need to do everything we can to keep this stuff under control. These challenges will go on for another 7-8 months in my opinion.
Give me some examples of churches who are getting "a lot of people sick" as you put it. I do not see anyone at my church who doesn't wear a mask willingly and/or follow the rules. The Bible actually calls us to obey secular laws and rules. Now, it also commands us to praise through song, which can be a conundrum of sorts. My church has decided that we will have service outdoors, socially distance (chairs for each family are set 6 feet from other family groups). This allows us to both follow King Newsom's rules (no singing indoors) and have a true worship service. Most of my friends who attend churches are the same. I would say any church who does not is an outlier and not the norm. Those might be the ones you hear about on CNN and MSNBC but that is not the norm. Again, provide me with the evidence of "a lot of people sick" from churches.

I would say the average Liberal on this forum is more rational-thinking than the average Conservative. We have some seriously brain-washed people on here who'd likely get in a fist-fight with anybody using Rush Limbaugh's name in vain. I'm actually starved for some conservative intellectual discussion devoid of someone else's pre-programming.

Now I'm a loooong way from a Liberal, but I suspect most of the Democrats on here are more middle-of-the-road than they are of the AOC acolytical persuasion. I consider myself fairly Moderate with a few Liberal and Conservative issues that are important to me. I always thought of myself as a fiscal conservative and moderate to very slightly left-of-center leaning on a few social issues (like pollution, animal abuse, etc.). But after the constant friction I'm having with some of the Trumper members on this board with regards to Covid and ****ing reality... I am temporarily without affiliation. I'm not going to die on a hill over abortion and farting cows... but I do draw the line with the current state of brain-washing and conspiracy theory culture. When the MSM used to announce Trump having taken over the Republican party, I paid it little attention. I am now understanding what they were talking about. People follow Trump... period. Regardless. Well, I'm not a follower so... I'll get off the crazy train prior to it heading over the cliff - believe that.

But as far as presidential campaigns go; there is no way I'm voting for Biden. Trump sans wars or pandemics equates to massive economic expansion. That is just fine with me. After Trump hopefully we can get a little balance on regulations so we don't poison ourselves off the planet. Free markets DO require some regulation. That is a fact.

My background is economics and finance.

                    I drive an electric car.

                    I don't eat red meat.

I passionately believe in religious freedom without intimidation or prejudice.

I believe men are born men and women are born women, but if you wanna blow a guy... that's your business.

Gay people are some of the nicest people I've met.

I believe in very little if any social support systems beyond the mentally disabled or aged. If you don't work, you starve.

The religious organizations are a pillar of social support in America and it should stay that way.

I DO NOT believe that heath care is a right. You make sacrifices to have access to the world's most advanced healthcare system or you make do with the charity organizations.

I also would not penalize a child born with a condition.

I don't have a poltical opinion on abortion, but I think anybody aborting a child late-term for convenience is sick.

Living wage? Give me a ****ing break. May as well call it a Gamer's wage. It's been tried in the Nordic region with the expected result. People stopped looking for work.

After moving into clean automotive tech, I'm convinced it is absolutely the future. Nobody should be forced to buy an electric car, but moving towards clean energy is common sense as the population on this planet continues to soar. Tax rebates on more expensive electric cars makes sense to me. I like to breath clean air.

I don't think we should incentivize the reproduction of our species. I'm aware of the economic implications.

Free Markets and Capitalism are still the best solution to eliminating poverty, but workers should own more of the companies they work for so the middle class can catch up with the rich in benefiting from our country's economic expansion, and regulations limiting monopolies and big business negative exernalities are crucial.

I'm also for preserving forests, the ocean, and natural habitat. It's literally how we get the oxygen we breath and most of our pharmaceuticals. Don't pollute, don't overfish, don't dump plastics and chemicals into the ocean etc. etc.
Spoken like a true progressive rino, because if you aren't your posts sure say otherwise. That's the kind of fence-sitting that would have disqualified a Kavanaugh confirmation. Do you support illegal immigration too?

The average every-day garden variety American is mostly concerned about jobs and supporting a family, and they're way more informed than the intellectual morons give them credit for (not talking about you of course). They are also more concerned about about policy than feelings, and rarely, if ever, discuss what Limbaugh has to say about national or foreign policy, or anything else he has to say for that matter. You've brought him up more often than any Trump voter I've ever known, in public or here on Shockernet, and that's no exaggeration.

You seem to have a boner for Trump voters and this thing called, what is it, covid deniers? I mean it's not like that's transparent or anything. What next, Trump voters watch too much FoxNews? What's up with that? You do know FoxNews is the highest rated Evening news block on cable right? Has it ever occurred to you that Fox, Trump, Jordan and McCarthy agree with them? Really, man, it's true.

We definitely agree that some of the posters on this forum are like the guy back in the day who was always getting his a** kicked in the bars because he had a big mouth. You know, the one whose friends got tired of going out with him because they were always having to bail him out. Can you relate?

Need a translation for all of that? Here's one: Blow your bi-partisanship out 'yo ass.

Just for clarification, and I'm not trying to defend Cold (he can do that by himself), what do you consider a fence-sitter? One who is not almost all in agreement with either the "right" or the "left"? One who "hedges all bets" waffles or doesn't take a true stand on anything? Or one who believes there just might be a lot of what is right about taking some of what they feel is best of an issue, sometimes mostly all from the "right", sometimes mostly all from the "left", but more than likely, what they feel is the best from each side of an issue?

Personal example I given lately: I'm for personal gun rights, the right to carry, and not put extreme restrictions on what kind of gun(s) one owns. I do have my limits, however. I've mentioned my dislike of carrying openly and not holstered in some fashion (a long gun being openly carried, in front, with finger off the trigger (safety on). I believe it is unnecessarily threatening. I've also believed that gun show sales should as restrictive (or more so) as stores that sell guns. I also have no problem with thorough background checks with reasonable waiting periods as long as it is very clear in the law what they are and are not looking for. Does this make me a fence-sitter? Or maybe someone who has given some real thought about a subject and has made personal decisions on what one feels is best. By the way, I don't even own a gun, not a hunter, but have shot both pistols and rifles, and took a rifle class class when young, and enjoy target shooting.

I agree with background checks for purchase, but what about for someone like you that doesn’t own a gun, but likes to shoot a gun? If they have universal background checks, you ain’t shooting because it’s illegal for me to loan my gun to you.

How about waiting periods. I agree that a background check should be done. Well they are. They look for any reason to restrict you from owning a gun. When that’s done, you get to buy it. That’s already a thing if you buy from anyone other than a private seller.

I did no such thing. I pointed out that I had looked into how he did business and saw that he wasn't what he claimed to be. Then I saw American banks bailing him out when he was in deep financial trouble, after which no American bank was willing to borrow any significant amount of money to him for the very reasons that I had identified in how he does business.

How many honest, credible, and trustworthy businessmen are unable to borrow money from American banks?

Before Trump announced his candidacy, both Eric and Don, Jr. commented that most of their financing came through Russia.

That's not a political position - that's an evaluation of how an American businessman does business.l
