Got an email from my brother this morning. Apparently Koontz was on the radio talking about being back in KC and working with the OF. He's been roaming between AA and AAA and thinks Gordon has really looked good and picked up on a lot of the little things that go into being a good outfielder. I guess he's hitting .380 or something with 5 HRs.
Ka'aihue is expected to be an everyday guy soon. Sent him back to AAA to play everyday but as soon as Guillen is gone he'll be back.
Robinson is a completely different player this year. Reading pitchers better and his confidence all around is high.
I guess Bullington was called up recently to pitch out of the pen. If he and Wood are ready this could be a huge help to getting to Soria.
I also saw Moose continues to hit well. And I'm waiting for Hosmer to make the move to NWA. What more can he prove in High A?
The near future might not be too bad...
1B - Butler
2B - Giavotella
3B - Moustakas
SS - Callaspo/Aviles?
C - Pena/Pina? Myers is still quite young. We'll see how he develops.
LF - Gordon
CF - Robinson
RF - DeJesus/Maier
DH - Ka'aihue
And Hosmer will still be around as well... At least for now that looks like it could be alright. Throw in a starting rotation that would include Greinke, Crow, Montgomery and Hochevar and the potential is there. I'm still not opposed to using Soria as a starter either.
Uh, it also helps playing the White Sox and the Orioles.
When you are the Yankee$, then beating these teams is no big deal. For the Royals, any win is good. Earlier this month, we lost 2 out of 3 to the White Sox.
They finished this 10 game series with other bottom-feeders at 6-4. The worst part was they lost the first 2 at home. The best part was they finished 6-2 with 4 of the games on the road.
They best make hay at home against the Rockies during the next 3 games, because the next 19 games should be tough.
