Blame this on Collegiate. The recruiting there is fairly obvious, but the KSHSAA doesn't have the resources to track down the sources of the money that pay the recruiting tuitions.

Collegiate is absolutely hated in 3A, which is towns of about 3,000 population. There are an awfully lot of those. Collegiate has access to athletes from a population base of 500,000 and they use that population base to compete against schools with very limited population bases.

Collegiate is moving to another league because the league they were in disbanded, then realigned - into about the same league without Collegiate. Collegiate essentially got kicked out of their league.

Collegiate is known as the rich kids' school that cheats. That's not a good combination.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I too was guessing that Collegiate is enemy #1 in this iniative.

The basketball team at Collegiate isn't exactly busting at the seams with Division One talent. In fact most of those last names can be traced to pretty successful Wichita families. Football is the same way. They have coaching continuity and a system.

Deangelo Evans, Maurice Evans, Banks Floodman, the Houlick brothers, Chris Harper, etc, etc....

If you think Collegiate doesn't recruit and hand out athletic scholarships you're just plain stupid. They came up with four brand new starters out of thin air on their 2008 football team and won state in 2009. Was that due to "coaching continuity" and "a system"? Continuous recruiting and a system of breaking the rules is what wins Collegiate games...it has absolutely nothing to do with coaching.

The Evans were ten plus years ago
Floodman and Houlik can afford to go there, know both their families
Chris Harper lasted one year, family couldn't afford to go there.

Sounds like you pee down your own leg

              What Denny said....

Like a poster mentioned above, isn't that what private schools are supposed to do, recruit the student body?

Smells like you've been posterized or pancaked blocked by a Spartan recently, Straw Hound.

Do you mental midgets understand that recruiting + free tuition is doubly illegal under KSHSAA rules?? Pointing out that the Evans' were ten years ago just proves how long Collegiate has been breaking the rules. Pointing out that Harper couldn't afford it is stating the obvious (neither could the Evans') and just proves my point once again. As a matter of fact about 13% of Collegiates students can't afford to go there and guess what, about 90% of them are starters on their various teams! How do you chumps explain the four new starters on Collegiates varsity football squad in 2008 and their resulting state championship in 2009??? Sounds like a replay of Collegiates 2000 season to me!

BTW...Harper didn't leave because he couldn't afford it since he was on scholarship anyways...he left because the underlying program is rotten!

You are dead wrong about Harper. I will bet the pink slip on your double wide on it.

Source of your unfounded percentages? Look loser, you obviously have an axe to grind against Collegiate, that's fine, but if you don't have data such as earnings and income of each parent of each student that go there, don't make it up.

If you want me to embarrass you and break down the various occupations of the parents of the starters of the basketball team this past year, I will gladly do so, but I will do it via personal message to you to respect the privacy of the individuals. The only down side to that is the rest of this board doesn't get to see you get owned.

So by your definition no private school should be in the KSHAA because that is exactly how they get their student body-by recruiting. Some do it through open houses, some through the church affiliated with the school and some do it by free market advertising.

How am I "dead wrong" about Harper? Collegiate hired his dad as a janitor at the school while Chris was going there on scholarship dimwit! They left the school because the coaching stinks and he transferred to Northwest where he recieved good coaching and higher visibility!!

You keep talking about the basketball team...apparently the boys team. How about the girls team dummy? Are any of them recruited and on free tuition? If you wanna talk about the boys team look at their bench this year and tell me how many of next years starting five are on free tuition. It's funny how you Collegiate propagandists point to the basketball team for the last two years as the "proof" that Collegiate does not recruit w/scholarships. Are you sure??? Do you have financial statements??? Lemme guess...it's because they've all been there since 5th or 6th grade? hahahahaha!

Collegiate is a 3A team. How are the teams that they compete against in 3A supposed to compete against Collegiate's ability to give a free ride to whoever they need to win?

                    UR OWNED!!

Yeah right the coaching stinks....Gehrer and Fiegel are terrible coaches.

Give me your email, I will have Harper's dad or brother contact you directly.

Your second paragraph didn't even make sense, again, the parents can afford it.

Obviously, you have been beat down by this school either physically or mentally or both, just come clean and say so.

Gehrer??? You mean that guy that runs Collegiate's baseball/softball recruiting facility???? Did he coach football too?

You obviously don't know the Harpers or you would know what happened so it's best not to pretend.

My second paragraph makes perfect sense, you just don't want to admit it.

Never been beat down by Collegiate but I don't like schools that lie and cheat to win. How 'bout you???

BTW...Make sure you skip the question: Collegiate is a 3A team. How are the teams that they compete against in 3A supposed to compete against Collegiate's ability to give a free ride to whoever they need to win?

I do know the Harpers. The reasons Chris left were many but he played there one year so really it doesn't matter, but he was charged tuition.

You throw around lie and cheat alot. Do you know what a slanderous statement is? Are you willing to identify yourself and be accountable with facts in a court of law?

There have been plenty of 3A champions in Kansas other than Collegiate. Look it up. And no one said they shouldn't move up a class if it seems unfair they don't have to draw from a certain district.

I have no affiliation with the school, but do know many of the kids and parents as my child goes to a rival school. No animosity here.

Here is the real issue though - by the pure nature of being a private school in the first place, a private school has to RECRUIT its entire student enrollment. Unlike public schools, there are not set geographic areas where kids automatically are required to enroll at the institution. How do you put rules into place that essentially say, "you can recruit whomever you want to attend your school, unless, of course, the person is an athlete, in which case you can't recruit them?"

Many people seem to think it is easy to separate recruiting for students generally and recruiting for athletes. Guess what - it isn't. How do you separate the two? Ban informational presentations about the private schools in low income or minority neighborhoods? Ban print/tv advertising that might fall into the hands of a kid with athletic skills? Keep private schools from giving scholarships to needy kids that can't afford the tuition? Ban billboards advertising certain schools because an athlete might see them? Tell those distributing fliers to refrain from passing them out to minorities or kids that look "athletic"?

If a private school did zero recruiting for students, it would have a hard time filling its open slots and would end up closing.
                            A great post worth bumping.

Conway Springs has won like six out of the last ten 3a championships in football. Are they cheating? They must be huh? Collegiate won one state championship last year with not one D-1 prospect. It's called coaching, parents being into their kids activities, and a system.

Why are you bringing up the Collegiate girls, they didn't even win state last year?

Do the schools in western Kansas gripe about TMP, they've won about as much as Collegiate?

How is Collegiate supposed to compete with the free education. phony addresses, and lax academic requirements to play sports the public schools have to offer?
