  • I’ll post more thoughts tomorrow, but holy cow is Timothy Weah good.

    • Pulisic played just enough, and McKennie played just enough to screw himself into a goal.

      Dos a Cero.

      • Watched the whole match last night.

This squad was far and away better than the squad that won the Gold Cup or even the Nations League, even though it’s the same personnel basically. So dangerous in attacking in the second half.

It’s amazing how deep the player pool is now. Not only do we have more players who can give us minutes, but they’re all better than the players from last WC cycle who are no longer being called in. We have a lot of talent and it’s hard to believe that we can’t play all of it at once.

Walker Zimmerman is playing himself into the conversation as a CB alongside Miles Robinson.

Westin McKennie was phenomenal. He’s creative and picks out the right passes for the most part. Christian Pulisic was a great sub for Aaronson who didn’t have his best night.

But man, Tim Weah is a revelation (well, as much of a revelation as you can be when your dad is George Weah). His pace, strength, and attacking ability down the right side are phenomenal. Didn’t even feel like we missed Gio Reyna.

I’m excited for this generation of players.

        Dos a cero!

        • US plays Jamaica at 4 PM Central on Paramount+. Would recommend watching if you can. A win would put us in a great spot.

Mexico plays at Canada today. That is a BIG matchup for both teams, but doesn't necessarily have a ton of implications for us.

Panama is the biggest wild card in CONCACAF. They play El Salvador today (and they should win), but if they start to fall off it would be a great development and would cement our position in the World Cup.

It's fun to see Canada break into the top 50. I'd love to see them climb the charts. Happy to see Costa Rica hanging in there too.

Agreed. Costa Rica is old though. Their best generation came to a head in 2014 (Ruiz, Bolaños, Gamboa) and they have not been very good in WCQ thus far. Joel Campbell could have been a breakout star at Arsenal but was not, even though he was decent.

Canada is so interesting...they have some great talent and I imagine they will be in the World Cup this next year because of personnel, if nothing else. Just too talented.

This is why soccer is a dumb game. You can't use your hands to protect your face or you might foul, and males have to cover up down low on a shot like that. In Soccer, One is left with No viable options.

                    • USMNT playing a friendly vs Bosnia & Herzegovina and Jordan Morris back in the fray tonight and already has been involved and created several dangerous situations flying down the right side for team USA.

Yes, things are so ****ING BAD that I'm forced to tune into a soccer friendly on a Saturday night to attempt to cleanse the palate.

                      • USMNT blows a chance to cement a spot in the World Cup by losing 2-0 in Canada today. They must defeat Honduras on 2/2 then get 6 points in their final 3 games to control one of the final 3 spots. But at Mexico and Panama and Costa Rica here, that’s a tall order.

Canada is the big boy in CONCACAF as of today. They lead the table 4 clear.

Really an embarrassing week with a lackluster win over an El Salvador

                        • Would have been nice to get at least a point today.

Thankfully Mexico drew but Panama remains the spoiler that could ruin EVERYTHING.

Canada is going to the World Cup…good for them but holy sh*t do they play like ankle biters. “Tactical fouling” that makes other CONCACAF nations look tame.

We seriously lacked the ability to finish in that game. Too many missed opportunities.

                            • Yep. The US coach can talk all he wants about how the US dominated...but we still lost. Very disappointing.

To be fair, the US did control possession for a chunk of the game and were the better team in the run of play overall. But yes, we weren't able to convert. Some due to our ineptitude in finishing, some due to the tactical fouling that Canada employed.

Not the worst thing, but a point would have been nice. We cannot afford to drop any more home points, and a point (or more) at the Azteca in March would be YUGE.
