What's behind Oklahoma's surge in earthquakes?

The problem there is that the earthquakes that happening in OK and in KS are along know fault areas where fracking and the waste water injections are occurring. This could be because:
a. these known faults are becoming more active and relieving the stresses that have built up - and is just a coincidence that fracking is occurring at the same time
b. the fracking activities are creating, or "lubing" known faults or activating unknown faults - supported by what we are obsubing down in OK and Harper County KS
c. or something else like uknown faults
In other places where fracking is going on, there have not been any swarm of earthquakes. But then again the earthquakes in Kansas (Harper County) didn't start until fracking startered - Cause and effect?
Part of the problem is there is not many USGS monitoring stations in KS (most just put in recently) and our frame of reference is very small time period so what we see as "normal" may not be normal. This has the same problems as the global warming debate, and just like it is being politicized on both side and the true science will be left behind, villianized or trivialized.

The Humboldt fault runs from central Oklahoma up into Nebraska. Along this line are ancient volcanoes, as well as caves, crevasses, ridges and rifts. A few years ago, a manmade goldfish lake was built in South central Kansas. Known as Lake Dofo, this artificial ecosystem was battered and has suffered structural damage caused by an historic, three year long drought. In order to meet the needs of the goldfish inhabitants, Lake Dofo has pulled fracking water up from Oklahoma into the lake. This in turn has lubed up the fault line and made it quiver like a 16 year old girl on prom night.
That is all. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I do have some insight into this area as a son of someone who has a vested interest on the topic as a Ag landowner in Sumner, Harper, & Barber Counties whose family does have wells and rights on the a lot of the land parcels. I do think both sides are making it very difficult to get a true picture of the impact.
Presently, the science indicates a possible correlation with high pressure injection but not so much with low pressure injection. Well dept doesn't seem to significantly impact correlation.
The elephant in the room regarding fracking is not earthquakes but rather water. University of Oklahoma scientists are attempting gather additional information on the matter but industry is resistant. In the locations where they have been able to study the wells are producing/pulling one gallon of water for every gallon of hydrocarbon produced. A 1 to 1 ratio. Life needs water more than hydrocarbons. At present the current sample size is too small to draw a conclusion other than more study is necessary.“Losers Average Losers.” ― Paul Tudor Jones
