Dofo even had a shout-out from Mark Larson on the KWCH morning show today. He said he had a twitter follower that said it only rains east of the turnpike. I thought I could get away from him by not reading these threads...but he's seeping into all media now!

I'm not exactly sure why, but that makes me laugh...hard.

Matter of time.....and not just twitter accounts.

Looks like another long term dry 14 day period for KS. Won't be surprised if water restrictions are enforced in some county's.

The drought isn't too bad. Our wells haven't run dry all year and we water a giant lush garden and a orchard as we'll as all of our animals.

                  Drought tightens grip on Midwest

The United States Department of Agriculture has declared natural disaster areas in more than 1,000 counties and 26 drought-stricken states, making it the largest natural disaster in America ever.

However, locally, it's not as bad as we've seen in the recent past. We have a number of farmers that bank with us, and they're not complaining like they were last year.

I agree. The upper Flint Hills is prolly the worst (Emporia, etc). Barber county, etc, is still very bad, perhaps not to the degree as last year, but will be soon. I was in your country yestetrday, and it looks really good, surprisingly so.

Family farm is out there, and the creeks aren't even running low.

Everything is very yellow here. In Wichita Metro area. Hasn't rained in at least a month. And no rain in forecast!
