    Kinda jealous by the way.
Great question. As someone that moved from treeless Kansas and coveted the land along the Little Walnut River for its huge hardwoods, I completely understand what you are saying. There are a few reasons. As Mr. Ruiz said, I am building a house, shop, and several outbuildings, maybe a feed out pen for a steer. First thing to understand is I am about 2 miles from the biggest national park in the US. What isn't the bald top of a mountain is covered by trees so dense you can't walk through it. My place was like that too. If it wasn't for trails, I wouldn't have any access to 5 of my 6 acres. It was badly over grown with scrub. With all those trees in the Wrangell-St. Elias Park, I don't need them on my place.

Clearing the trees makes the 2-3 feet of snow go away really fast because the sun can be on it. We've been melting for 2 weeks now and there is still nasty snow in the trees. We have winter for 8 months of the year. When its over, it needs to be over quickly.

The other reason is that I need the ground to melt. The moss on the ground in the trees keeps the mineral dirt frozen well into July, and sometimes it never thaws. If I were to immediately start building this summer, the ground would shift under my foundation as it thaws. A friend of mine just spent $80k injecting concrete below his slab to level it. That is a game I can't afford to play.

I should probably make a video about this.

I follow several RV-ing channels. Their vids are generally 10-30 minutes long and they usually drop a new one every Sunday. A couple of them have over 100k subscribers and it helps fund their full-time RV lifestyle.

I look forward to watching your vids. My wife and I have enjoyed the Buying Alaska and Living Alaska series. Good luck!

I tried a software that came loaded on my Dell, called "Movie Maker." I think it's standard Windows fare. I'm a total noob so I don't need (or want) anything sophisticated right now, and so far it's worked well for me. I used it to add the splash screen to my Mt. Antero video. I'm currently using it to edit a video I took on my phone a couple of years ago from my Jeep trip over Black Bear Pass. That video needs a little more work than my first one so I'll be stretching my legs with this software.

Any video editing tips and software suggestions are welcome.

I just bought a really nice Dell (almost paid Mac prices), I should look to see if that’s on there.

You know, it was hard to hold the camera steady, but got easier once I realized I didn't also need to hold onto the steering wheel anymore.

Seriously, though, what's crazy is that is exactly the same part of the road where I took my video. Crazy coincidence.

Just watched another video of Black Bear where it started to rain and hail with waterfalls everywhere (and crossing the road). They had to wait further down for a large excavator to clear the road. My Word!!

In this video we tackle the famous Black Bear Pass near Telluride Colorado. But shortly after coming down past the sheer cliff and waterfall, things take a ...
