Masking Likely Did Little to Slow the Spread of COVID-19, Cochrane Review Finds
By Ross Pomeroy
February 11, 2023
In the fields of health and medicine, the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews may be the most trusted source of information. So when a massive Cochrane review finds that face-masking likely did little to reduce the spread of COVID-19, it's worth paying attention.
The international team of researchers reviewed 78 randomized, controlled trials, including six conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, conducted in both community and healthcare settings. They sought to find out whether surgical or KN95 masks reduced the spread of respiratory illnesses like influenza and COVID-19.
Their findings?
"Compared with wearing no mask in the community studies only, wearing a mask may make little to no difference in how many people caught a flu‐like illness/COVID‐like illness."
Surprisingly, more robust KN95 masks were found to be similarly ineffective, even in healthcare settings. "Compared with wearing medical or surgical masks, wearing N95/P2 respirators... may make little to no difference in how many people catch a flu‐like illness or respiratory illness," the authors found.
The tepid results seem at odds with strictly imposed community mask mandates that were commonplace during the pandemic.

A latest video from Project Veritas may be one of the most shocking undercover investigations yet. The video unearths “Pfizer is internally discussing the possibility of mutating the Covid virus themselves in order to taylor a vaccine to sell to the public” Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe explains. The undercover video has gone viral and already […]

Be prepared for the media hype
A new version of omicron has taken hold in the U.S., according to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The subvariant of omicron, named XBB.1.5, has raised concerns about another potential wave of Covid cases following the busy holiday travel season.
Given the high level of population immunity in the U.S. — either through infection, vaccination or both — Bogoch and others hope that, even if cases start to rise significantly, there won’t be a dramatic spike in hospitalizations or deaths as seen in previous waves.

COPIED OFF OF ONE OF MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS
"So my wonderful trip to NYC has resulted in a brutal case of COVID for Mike and I. I have been sick since Tuesday. Extremely heavy congestion that meds barely touch, sore throat and now a deep, painful cough. Mike caught it very quickly, there does not seem to be much of a incubation period. So now our kids have to gather for Christmas without us and we have canceled other events. We are trying to drink plenty of water, rest as much as possible and take scheduled medications, but for me day 4 is still as miserable as day 1. I am totally vaccinated and double boosted. I really thought I would be okay traveling to NYC. I did not wear a mask, I really didn't think I needed to. But as I sit...."
