Sorry, completely misread what you wrote. Like '72, I think Arizona would be a top 3 team in the Valley, and capable of winning it. I doubt there is a team we will play in the Valley with better interior players top to bottom than Arizona.

I'm sure we have several young ladies in the dumps today due to not being able to close the deal in the last 30 seconds against Arizona last night including Chynna Turner who missed two free throws with 0.2 seconds left.

However, Chynna does deserve some credit. First of all she made the rebound and a great outlet pass to Alicia Sanchez for a breakaway layup with 4 - 5 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, Alicia could not make the bunny. In addition, Chynna hustled down the floor and rebounded (I think it was Jazimen's) put back attempt in order to draw the foul at the buzzer. A real shame she could not cap off that great hustle by making a game winning free throw.

It will come in time I believe. For Chynna and this team, especially if they keep up with the kind of effort and hustle Chynna showed in that sequence.

The free tickets I had to give away came into the mail to various parties. But they were all recieved on the day of the game. I was able to find users for 3 of the tickets.

Not sure if this was a last minute thought or what but I consider it another marketing mistep to send these out so late. Having a few days instead of a few hours to find users for these tickets would have been much better. Having some of them arrive after the game is even worse.

There is no doubt that the finish against Arizona was very, very frustrating for fans, coaches and players alike.

Jody said that one really burns. I hope the players share that feeling x 10.

How the ladies deal with this failure and frustration will go a long way in determing how they do this season.

In a positive light the Shocks did build a 15 point lead against a decent Arizona team.

Jessica Diamond showed what she is capable of offensively. She can light it up when she gets going. She just needs to be more consistent.

Haleigh also was very good early and then found herself in foul trouble which is a tendency of hers. We need Haleigh on the floor especially during crunch time.

Breanna Dawkins showed signs that she will be a very good player.

Heather and Alicia did not have particularly good games but I believe they are both very capable of significant contributions.

Our inside players played hard but we have some work to do to get more offensive production from our front court.

Hopefully, Krystle Henderson will recover quickly and be able to contribute at the point guard and, at a minimum, allow us to give Jessica a few minutes off here and there.

I, for one, certainly am not ready to thrown in the towel. Despite the frustration of the loss and the way we lost vs Arizona, I actually thought the ladies picked it up quite a bit from their exhibition performance.

1972 - I agree completely. While it was frustrating to lose, I find the fact that we were substantially better than a solid Arizona team for the bulk of the game to be far more encouraging than the inability of a very young team to finish discouraging.

You can't fix a lack of talent. You can fix a lack of experience. I'd much rather lack the latter than the former.

Haleigh HAS to stay out of foul trouble. Jessica ran out of gas having nobody else to lean on and take some of it off her shoulders. And I know at least two of her fouls were just stupid. Especially the last one. She's has to play smarter than that. They need her on the court as much as possible.

Positively, absolutely correct!

Haleigh was in good shape at half time with only 1 foul. She picked up numbers 2 and 3 in the first 1:52 of the second half and went to the bench.

She returned at the 14:49 mark and returned to the bench a little less than 3 minutes later with foul #4.

She returned at the 5:33 mark and picked up #5 at the 4:45 mark.

Having Haleigh on the floor for only 5 mintues and 37 seconds of the second half really, really hurt the Shocks.

I got two tickets today in the mail. Can't wait to go, thanks Athletic Dept!!!! This game against a Pac-10 team is huge, and could get us off on the right foot for a good season. I think if we can make our free throws we'll beat them. See you all there.
