Yeah, I'll probably skip the chalk talk. What they should do is have Jody come down to the chili feed and give the chalk talk there. Would not be surprised if they do that.

Shockers chunk four free throws in a row at the end that could have won it. On to overtime.

Tough, tough way to lose a game.

                    :(

Antoine Carr's mom used to watch his pro games. She would call him and rag on him for missing free throws. Carr would say in protest, "But mom..." but Momma Carr would cut him off saying, "They're FREE throws! FREE throws."

                      You can't argue with that.

We were the better team tonight, but we were also the younger team and we need to learn how to close out games. Give a lot of credit to Arizona for fighting back. A double digit lead over a PAC-10 school is what our talent gets us. The inability to put it away is what having only 1 senior and 1 player with more than 1 year of DI experience gets us.

Hard game to lose, but how we respond to it is everything. This can either be a game that we let make us mentally weaker or stronger, depending on how we choose to react to it. If we learn from it, then it will be a valuable game in teaching us how to grow into a mature team that can finish when the pressure is on.

Hatter, where does Arizona finish in the MVC?

I don't know the Pac-10 well enough to feel really confident making a prediction, but I'd say middle of the pack. I don't see them competing with the likely top 3 in the conference (Stanford, UCLA, and Cal), but I think they are in the running for 4th-6th place.

I believe they were picked 6th by the media and 7th by the coaches, but I think they can finish higher than that. The main reason I say that is the addition of transfer Shanita Arnold (#5) from Arkansas at point guard. They return their top 3 scorers from last season, and Arnold looks good enough at the point to help get the ball in those players hands.

Sorry, I meant IF Arizona were in the MVC, where would you expect them to finish.

I agree that our inexperience was a big factor in letting this game get away, although it is really hard to accept that we can't make a wide open break away bunny or just 1 of 4 free throws at the end of the game.

I knew we were pretty much toast when the game went into OT. Jessica was totally out of gas.

Jessica had a horrendous 1st half and an oustanding second half offensively until she hit the wall and lost her legs.

Haleigh started out like a house of fire but she still hasn't figured how to stay out of foul trouble and on the floor even though she is our most experienced player.

I didn't think Alicia had a very good game. She needs to learn that sometimes less is more.

I was surprised to see that we "only" had 22 turnovers. Seemed like 30. Maybe that was because our two point guards combined for 14 turnovers.

Breanna Dawkins did show some very good flashes in her frist performance as a Shocker.

I did think the Shocks defense and reboudning was significantly better than what they showed in their exhibition game. Now we need to learn to value the basketball and make a few FREE throws. We do have some weapons.

I think Arizona would be a Top 3 team in the MVC.

Hopefully, the Shocks will learn from this one.
