The women's 10,000m run in the U.S. Olympic Team Track and Field Trials is schedule for Saturday, July 2nd at 1:00 pm CDT in Tracktown USA (Eugene, OR). It appears the race will be on NBC.
So why is this significant to Shocker fans? There will be two former Shocker athletes competing in this race.
Kellyn (Johnson) Taylor who ran for WSU from 2007 - 2009 and Aliphine Tuliamuk-Bolton who ran for WSU from 2011 - 2013 (and who received her U.S. citizenship on April 29th of this year) will be competing in this race.
I believe the top 3 finishers qualify for the U.S. team. Kellyn has the 4th best qualifying time at 31:40.70 and Aliphine has the 10th fastest qualifying time at 31:54.20.
Runner's World Preview of the Women's 10K
House of Run Interview of Aliphine Interview starts at around the 30:30 mark and runs for about 30 minutes. Very worthwhile and entertaining listen.
Good luck Kellyn and Aliphine. Shocker Proud. :poster_wu:
