Appears so, but Katie seems to pitch much better as a starter than she does in relief. She pitched very well in last weeks Game 1 against SIU but the SIU raked her over the coals when she came on in relief in Game 2. -
Katie settles down to get the final 2 outs ending the Redbird rally with a strike out.
But the Redbirds are back in game. Shockers 5 - Redbirds 3 after 5. Need to get our bats back in gear.Comment

Cacy Williams follows a 2-out 6th inning single by Kelli Spring out of the 9-hole with a 2-run homer giving the Shocks a little breathing room up 7-3.
As I said after her 7th inning homer in Game 1, if the Shocks can hold on to this lead Cacy will be the league's POY.Comment

3-more outs to get with the bottom third of Redbird order due up in the 7th.Comment

Perhaps one of the most impressive things about the Shockers performance this year and today in particular is that this is a young team from a program that simply is not used to winning championships playing on the road against the team that has more Valley Championships than any other, that has substantially more experience on the roster and that was coming in on a 9-game winning streak. Perhaps our secret sauce was our youth. These Shockers didn't understand that they were the underdogs.The Shockers were on top of the standings for the majority of the season, but the Redbirds surged into first place last weekend and are in the midst of a nine-game winning streak. A title for ISU would be its league-high 13th all-time, while Wichita State is seeking its first-ever regular-season championship.
Also, you generally build fast-pitch softball teams with pitching. This team's pitching was OK, but certainly not dominating. But these young Shocker hitters can get the job done most of the time and they really came on strong in Valley play.Comment
