The Shockers travel to Stillwater for the Mizuno Classic this Friday and Saturday. This is the last weekend tournament for the Shocks. Games on Friday are versus Kansas City at 12 pm followed by Oklahoma State at 230 pm. Saturday's games are at 12 pm against KC and at 5 pm versus OSU.
Kansas City are members of the Summit League where they are tied as a pick for second. Kloe Hilbrenner and Mia Hoveland are on the Preseason Players to Watch list. Their record is 4-16, but they have played a schedule that is probably above their weight - five games against teams RV or better. In games of interest, they split with Missouri State and lost to Arkansas, SEMO, and Iowa. They also have an early loss to South Florida.
Hilbrenner leads the offense of the Roos with an OPS of 1.035 with Delainey Fenoglio next at .959. There are three pitchers whose innings are not that far apart: Hoveland with an ERA of 5.17 and a WHIP of 1.72, Camryn Stickel (5.20 and 1.67), and Casey Stout (5.21 and 1.25).
The 10/9 Cowgirls have a record of 17-6 with a record of 4-5 against teams RV or better. In the preseason, they were ranked in the top five of every poll you can find. They beat MIssouri State, lost to USF, and beat Minnesota twice in games against Shocker opponents.
The top OPS for OSU belong to Katelynn Carwile (1.056), Chyenne Factor (1.053 and six homers), and Julia Cottrill (1.109 and five homers). Almost all of the innings belong to Kelly Maxwell (1.15 and 0.96), Miranda Elish (Oregon to Texas to OSU) (2.76 and 1.34), and Morgan Day (Illinois State)(3.23 and 0.84). Elish and Day are grad students.
Sydney (1.545 and seven homers) and Addison (1.461 and twelve homers) continue to lead the Shocker offense with Lauren (1.217 and six homers) now in the third spot. The Shocker pitching has looked better of late, and the number are starting to look presentable. In innings order, Erin (4.11 and 1.44), Caitlin (4.06 and 1.54), and Alison (3.00 and 1.68).
