Not the kind of start you want vs a top-10 team. Shock's are lucky, it could have been a lot worse without the inning ending double play.

1-2-3 with two strikeouts in the second for the Shockers.

The Cowgirls made a mid-week trip to DFW where they beat North Texas 4-2 and lost to UT-Arlington 3-1. They are not beyond reach.

A walk but no runs in the bottom of the second. 0-3.

4 walks the first time through the lineup. That is definitely playing with fire.

I’m biased, but I think the OSU pitcher is getting some strike calls that McDonald is not.

I don't recognize any of the umpire's names. Not from the usual Tulsa bunch.

EDIT: Leah Duame was Leah Bowen. She has been to the WCWS a couple of times.

Three up, three down in the Shocker third. The Cowgirls homer to lead off their third. Another error by Krystin, but there is no resulting scoring. 0-4.

Probably going to need something from the top of the order in the 4th.

A walk and a couple of wild pitches get a Shocker to third base, but no runs in the inning. A single and a wild pitch has O-State at second with two outs, and then ... a hit batter, another wild pitch, and a walk load the bases. A single scores two runs. 0-6 after four. Are there really that many wild pitches, or is Lainee not blocking some balls in the dirt that she might have? Maybe they are wild - high or outside.

Probably time to let one of the Freshman pitchers give it a go.

1-2-3 in the fifth for the Shocks. Two walks for the Shockers at this point but no hits. Two singles to open the Cowgirl fifth. A runs-ahead game is in the air. An infield error and the bases are loaded. A walk scores one of the two required runs - still no outs. A ground ball to Sydney scores the needed run as she cannot get the force at home.

                      Shockers 0-8(5) Oklahoma State

Nothing much going for the Shocks in this one. As noted, no hits and only two walks. Only three strikeouts - I thought Elish could easily fan seven or eight in five innings. Erin gave up eight hits, six walks and one hit batter in four innings (there being no outs in the fifth). Like I said, nothing much good happening.

I was unable to watch the live stream but it would seem like he Shocks were simply overmatched in this one. Hopefully, they will fare a little better tomorrow evening.

Disheartening loss. Never figured out the OSU pitcher, obviously. I don’t think the box score accurately represents this Shocker offense. I expect tomorrow’s game to be closer.

                            Other Friday Game

                            Kansas City 0-9(5) Oklahoma State

Maxwell allowed one hit and struck out twelve of the fifteen outs. Maxwell is the ace of the Cowgirl staff, not Elish.

                              Game Three

                              Kansas City v Shockers

Same lineup for the Shocks with Jessica as the DP again. Kenzie is the starter. Hoveland, the best pitcher for the Roos, is their starter. Best is a relative term - we shall see.

A leadoff walk followed by a double and Kansas City is on the board. A single with one out scores a second run. 2-0 as the Shocks get their first at-bats.

Sydeny starts the bottom half with a double. A walk with two outs, but no runs. 2-0 KC.

1-2-3 for Kenzie in the second. Krystin is hit by a pitch for the Shocks and moves to third on a single by Lainee an error on the continuing play. Runners at the corners. A throwing error on Wylie's ground ball scores a run and leaves different runners at the corners. Sydney then singles in the tying run. 2-2 after two.

A single for the Roos in the third but no damage. Likewise for the Shockers - a single by Lauren, but no runs. 2-2 after three.

With two outs, KC doubles and homers to take a 4-2 lead in the middle of the fourth. With two outs, Sydney homers for the Shocks. 4-3 Roos after four.

Lolo pinch-hit for Lainee and is now the DP with Jessica moving to the C. Erin is in to pitch to start the fifth.

The Roos get a double and a walk with two outs but no runs. Zoe leads off the bottom half of the fifth with a homer to tie the game. Neleigh walks and with one out, Jessica doubles her to third, and Lolo singles them both home. Cassie pinch hits for Wylie and sends the first pitch she sees over the fence in left-center. On to the sixth with an 8-4 Shocker lead.

Walk, out, walk. Sigh. Two fly ball outs follow. In the Shocker half of the sixth, Neleigh and Lauren hit back-to-back homers with one out. Pitching change for KC. Jessica and Krystin single, but no one can push them across. 10-4 after six.

The lead-off batter for the Roos in the seventh homers. With two outs, they get a four-pitch walk from Erin, but a groundout ends the game.

                              Kansas City 5-10 Shockers

A rather pedestrian game. Shocker pitching gave up seven hits and five walks. Five of the hits were for extra bases.

Sydney had four hits and Lauren and Jessica each had two among the fourteen hits for the Shocks. Homers were by Sydney, Zoe, Neleigh, Lauren, and Cassie.

Perhaps quite a bit more than pedestrian offensively. Pedestrian at best in the circle. But that is generally how you would describe this Shocker team.

A little concerned that the OSU pitching may have put Addison in a bit slump as she was 0-4 in this game.

Unfortunately, that OSU pitching looms again in a couple of hours. Hope the Shocks can be a bit more competitive vs OSU this evening but not expecting a win in that one.
