In the second with two outs, Morgan reaches first on an error and Bailee walks, but Kaylee strikes out to end the threat.

The Golden Eagles load the bases on a hit batter and two walks, but Caitlin gets a ground out to end that threat.

    No score after two.

The Shockers are retired in order in the third, including two strikeouts. Leigh Ellen Thomas is in the circle for TN Tech. A junior lefty, she was 6-13 last year with an ERA of 4.78.

Another walk issued by Caitlin in the bottom of the third causes no damage. No hits, but four walks in the three innings.

      Still no score.

The Shocks strike in the top of the fourth. With two outs, walks to Ryleigh and Morgan precede a three-run shot to center field by Bailee Nickerson.

A leadoff single and one-out walk for the Golden Eagles brings on Bailey Klitzke in relief of Caitlin. One hit, five walks, one hit-batter and one strikeout in 3.1 innings for Caitlin.

A bunt single loads the bases, but Bailey gets out of the jam with a strikeout and ground out.

Shocks lead 3-0 after four innings.

Very fortunate that those walks didn't hurt Caitlin. But she will need to clean tha up going forward because she won't always be so fortunate.

The Shockers get runners in the fifth on an error (the second by the center fielder) and a walk, but get no runs.

Bailey gives up a one-out single and follows with two strikeouts.

Shockers still lead 3-0 after five.

Freshman Bailee Nickerson wiht her 2nd home run of the game, a 2-run shot to left center, puts the Shocks up 5-0 in the top of the 6th.

Exciting day for the Fresshman. And needed as well as the Shockers as a whole are not exactly on a tear offensively.

After Morgan reaches on an error, Bailee hits another bomb, this time to left-center. A walk to pinch-hitter Bethany Canada brings on a reliever for TN Tech. Walks to Bailey and Madison load the bases with two outs, but Paige flies out.

Shockers lead 5-0 with the bottom of the sixth to come.

A single and two walks, sandwiched around two strikeouts, load the bases for the Golden Eagles. A walk scores one run and a single scores two more. A throwing error on the attempt to get the runner going from first to third allows that runner to score. Four runs for TN Tech, and BaileyL comes on in relief from the outfield to get a groundout to end the inning.

Shocker lead is 5-4 after six.

Ryleigh extends the lead with a solo homer to center. With two outs, walks to Bailee and Kaylee and an infield single by Mackenzie load the bases, but BaileyL is called out on strikes.

BaileyL gets three outs to end the game, the last with a strikeout.

          Shockers 6-4 Tennessee Tech

This was a bit of an ugly game. The Shockers only had five hits, but three of them went over the fence, and they received nine walks. Unfortunately, twelve were left on base. Getting two homers from a freshman is good.

Not identifying a second pitcher is not so good. BaileyK will get credit for the win (I think), but she gave up four hits and three walks in 2.1 innings. BaileyL will get the save. As noted above, Caitlin gave up one hit and five walks in 3.1.

This is the only game the Shockers play today with the current schedule.

Bailee Nickerson gets the POG for this game. It would not have been a great game to watch IMO. A total of 17 walks. and 1 HBP split equally between the two teams. Not what you need when you are trying to squeeze as many games in as you can before the rain hits.

Thank goodness bor Bailee's timely power.

That is the old schedule before it was revised due to expected rain. Here is the new schedule. You can also see the GT links to the far right for each game. Another Auburn site article indicates that only the Friday part of that schedule is in concrete.

So Shocks are done today. Chances of rain tomorrow have been lowered a bit but still probably dodging raindrops. Auburn has an artificial turf outfield and a dirt infield.

In fact, Auburn's softball faciliyt is quite impressive:

According to the Tennessee Tech game recap on GoShockers.com we play Marsahll at 3:00 pm this afternoon. There is a link to live stats.

This game will be played at Auburn City Park instead of at Auburn's Jane B. Moore Field.

Now I am compelled to find pictures of all of the AAC softball fields - maybe.

I wish they would tear ours down and start over. The seating arrangement and ground-level press box are sad. But given the money available and the piece of land to put it on ...

Well 1st of all you need to recruit one of Charles Koch's grandduaghters to play for the Shocks. We may have land available on the golf course. If not just put it West of Eck Stadiium and build a parking garage where Wilkins Stadium now sits. Of course, I'm not sure we could ever draw crowds like the one shown in the Auburn facility photo.
