Anyone maybe willing to organize donated tickets? I'd be willing to donate some $ for tickets for the public school volleyball teams in areas that may lack $ to go to games such as this. From what I know, all the student athletes in this sport are people to look up to and I'd like to support that.

I'll make some calls in the morning and post by the end of the day.

Since we know we won't sell out....how about a campaign to bump the attendance, if even by KState standards?

$1 sounds like a good way to simply increase my "Match Club" donation.

I think I'll buy 100 tickets or so just to support the cause.

I thought of this idea too. I was thinking of a few more than 100 tickets, however. If five people each bought ... 100 or 200 or ... or 1000 tickets each, ...

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Count me in if you need donated tickets. My guess is that "our group" (VB fans on SN) can supply as many $1 tickets as you can give away. I just want "posteriors in the seats" so they can see how much fun Shocker VB is. If we expect to bump attendance, we need JS to provide extra "prizes" (T-shirts, pizza coupons, etc.) so the new people go away with an extremely positive experience (and maybe a prize). Also, we need to have the halftime "kids serve for prizes" at the MSU match; this is a big draw and attractive to first time visitors with kids. Having one VB team serve for prizes at a big match is boring and not the draw that we want; let a 7 year old who has never played VB (and 300 of her friends) try to serve over the net.

Same question. Doc, do you need us to buy some tickets for you to give away?

:goshocks: We can beat this crowd!!!!!! Let's do it!!! :goshocks:

Sophomore outside hitter Destinee Hooker connected for 17 kills to lead the fifth-ranked Texas Volleyball team to a 3-0 sweep of No. 1 Nebraska Wednesday night in front of a sold out crowd at Gregory Gymnasium.

The record crowd of 4,286 that witnessed the Horns’ upset of top-ranked Nebraska was the largest attendance mark at Gregory Gym in its current configuration.

I'm hoping for even bigger and better things.

Shocks were #10 in attendance in 2006 at 2,083 per match.

Last year 2,600 per match would put you into the #5 spot in National Attendance. I think that #5 national attendance spot is an attainable goal for Shocker fans to have in their sights.

At 3,254 per match after the 1st weekend we are probably at our high point of the year. We have 11 remaining home matches left. We need to average 2,422 per match over the 11 matches to average 2,600 for the year which may or may not be Top 5 this year.

The Big 4 in attendance Hawaii (7,186), Wisconsin (4,328), Nebraska (4,178) and Minnesota (3,938) are probably out of our reach.
Sp far this year, 2600 per game would be seventh (behind Penn State and ahead of Stanford. We are 110 per game behind Stanford right now. Texas (in 10th place) had a big (4K+) match vs Nebraska which will bump them up.

That puts Texas at 2459, bumping us down to 9th. That win could also bump their attendance for the remainder of the year. But these are UT fans and it isn't football or baseball, so who knows.

I do think we'll make that difference up next Friday.

Don't take 'em all just yet. :)

I think you guys may be underestimating the turnout for this game. If both are coming in playing for the title, and the publicity is done correctly, it could be a heck of a crowd.

Can I purchase my tickets through the ticket office sometime this week to avoid lines? If so, will I still get the $1 tickets?

                          Thanks.

Publicity is going to be the problem though.

Maybe, but I doubt if Lambo would be real pleased if they started to hype the MSU match too much until after the dust settles from this weekend's matches @ SIU on Friday and @ Evansville on Saturday.

While these are matches the Shocks should win, both SIU and Evansville are dangerous opponents if the team isn't focused. It's OK for the fans to look forward, but I doubt Lambo wants any added distractions nor does he want to hand the opponents any bulletin board material.

As soon as we take care of business this weekend, then let the hype and promotion begin in earnest (please).

I've been thinking along these lines as well. Don't want to have anyone looking past this weekend. After that, let it all hang out.
