Anyone on that PVSA list is a stud, plain and simple. The last (and only one I can remember) one to sign was Feekin.

They are stoked about the girl from Canada. They think she's a complete steal and could play almost anywhere.

I haven't been nearly as engaged as I would like to be regarding our program for the last year but I can tell you this...the staff has been stoked about this class for some time now.

With Rylea at 87 and Mikaela at 74 on the prepvolleyball.com senior aces list (THE list you want to be on) those 2 represent the 2 highest recruits since Feekin. Feekin was and is special. She'll graduate as one of the best, if not the best, player in Shocker history, no disrespect to any of the great athletes to go through this program. My point is simply that special talent is on the way. And honestly, those 2 don't even stand out......they love the potential of

Think about these numbers for awhile:

Mikaeka touches TEN FOUR! She's tall at 6'2" but touches 10'4". That's Texas-USC type athleticism.
Rylea is listed at 6'4" (6'5" at prepvolleyball) and touches 10'. They also mention her motor and the fact she may still be growing.
Shimen is going to eat up the work they give her...I wish she was coming here in the spring. ANOTHER girl that touches 10'+...she's going to be a STUD. Our pin problems are over.

I would expect Kara to redshirt, but I love the 6'5" frame, and I have no idea what to expect from Gabi and Hanna except that they'll both compete. Regan fills a hole at setter but her mom was instrumental in the local club volleyball scene so there may be something else going on here. I'm not saying anything negative. Regan came on strong and is developing late so she may end up a complete steal and the setter position is WIDE open. Interesting to note they didn't mention McKenzie...it could be she hasn't signed her release yet.

Great article featuring WSU recruit Shimen Fayad.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

          Loved this quote:

Several schools, including San Diego State and Northwestern were interested, and Wichita State didn’t appear to be the front runner until she made her recruiting visit.

“We went there first, and after that I didn’t go on any other trips,” Fayad says. “It just felt like home. The school. The girls. Everything just felt natural.”

Interesting that the #7 and #8 players on that list are headed to Gonzaga and Hawaii, 2 strong programs. Fayad of course tops that list.

Next year will be very interesting indeed. We have 20 players on this year's roster. Losing 4 seniors and bringing in a recruiting class of 7, without any transfers or departures, would give us a roster of 23 players.

With this talented recruiting class coming in I am sure Lambo is working with some of his young ladies to perhaps place them where they can see some playing time if that is what they want. I would expect we might see more than the usual amount roster movement between now and next fall.

It will be interesting to see how many of the incoming class will redshirt, something Lambo likes to do, and how many will step right into the fray. We have some big shoes to fill next year.

I'm assuming RS-Fr Emily Hiebert will inherit the setter position from 3rd team All-American Chelsey Feekin. Physically Emily reminds me of former MSU standout Katelyn Panzau. Hopefully, she will prove to be as talented as Ms. Panzau was for the Bears on the VB court.

I don't know if Hannah Eakin and Kristin Byers are ready to take over in the middle from Ashley and Elizabeth or whether Lambo will go with the young size he is bringing in. In any case, we will look very different in the middle next year.

Finally who will step into Sam Sanders spot. Sam finally put together a more or less injury free year in her final go round and had an excellent year. Perhaps Lambo will slot the uber-athletic Shimen Fayad to take over for Sam.

We really need Ashlyn and Katie to continue to grow and improve their games. Both have the talent and athleticism to do so. Ashlyn in particular needs to eliminate some of her errors. Opponents will probably not have to pay as much attention to our middles next year so next year could be a challenge for our outside hitters.

Looks like Lambo will have plenty of competition and options to choose from at the Libero and DS positions. I don't look for Dani Mostrom to surrender her starting Libero position easily. However, sounds like both the incoming freshmen, Dani's little sister Gabi and Hanna Shelton, will be capable of pushing Dani, Gabby Urban, Alyssa Carney and Jordan Hinkle.

My initial thought is that next year will be somewhat of a transition, dare I say rebuilding year, but the competition for playing time could be fierce and perhaps Lambo will be forced to go young by this talented incoming recruiting class.

Not setting my expectations too high with the losses we have to replace, but next year should be a very interesting season in terms of growth and development and that's what I will be focused on. I expect a lot of ups and downs during this process. Lambo will probably have a blast next year because I think he enjoys training and developing players as much, if not more, than actually competing in matches.

The Shocker VB roster continues to grow as McKenzie Fyfe, a 5-6 setter/libero out of Grand Island, NE, signs with the Shocks.

McKenzie emulating her fellow Nebraskan, Chelsey Feekin, in that she more or less recruited herself.

So will Fyfe now be on scholarship? She was previously listed as a walk-on.

My guess is she is a walk-on. Lambo only has 12-full scholarships to give. His squads usually have 6-8 kids that are either paying their own way, on academic scholarships or a combination thereof. It is difficult to look at the roster and know for sure who is on a volleyball scholarship and who is not. Some are obvious, and some aren't so obvious.

From the article, "lost Jordan Loney to injury." Someone help me. I recall the name, but not the injury story.

I'd like to, but I'm sorry, her departure was too painful.

Jordan hurt her shoulder and never really recovered. I can't recall how bad it was, though.
