Yes, we have. One of the toughest draws in the tournament, if not the toughest.

25-18 in the fourth set, and KU takes the match against Cleveland State, 3-1. The Shockers play the Jayhawks tomorrow at 630pm.

Do you think the Cleveland State team would agree to hang around a play us a set at about 6:00? Shocks need to avoid those 1st set doldrums if possible. Need to eliminate any long runs by KU as much as possible. The Hogs had 7-0 runs in both of the 1st sets today. The Shocks can win this but they need to be pretty consistent from beginning to end.

We are also probably going to have to find more production out of our outsides. Emily, Ashlyn, Katie and Sam were a combined 25-17-93 for a .094 hitting percentage which just may not be good enought to get it done against KU. Katie was probably the most efficent of the outsides at 5-2-14 = .214 but Emily and Ashlyn get the bulk of the swings. Time for Emily to step up her game. If she is going to end her career tomorrow she may as well go out with guns a blazin'.

Ashley (23-1-39 = .564) was oustanding and Elizabeth (14-5-34 = .265) was decent in the middle. But you know they are going to have KU's full attention.

These two teams should be somewhat familiar with each other as they scrimmaged last spring in the All-Purpose gym in Koch Arena.

This is where I wish we had heard Lambo's postgame comments. I speculate that it took us the first set and a little to adjust to the attack of Arkansas. He had noted that the SEC style is more "throw it up there and take a big swing", unlike the Valley. And maybe we started serving a little better, maybe we adjusted our block. This is where Lambo educates me - what happened to change the outcome?

With all due respect to the Arkansas offensive attack, which is pretty good, I thought the Shocks simply did not bring it in Set 1. It's not like we haven't seen teh SEC style before as we played both Auburn and Tennessee this year. I think tonight was the 15 time this year we lost Set 1. Lambo has ackowledged previously that it is an issue that he has not been able to solve. However, I agree. I like listening to Lambo's pre- and post-game comments.

BTW, do know if there is a way to watch a video replay of the Arkansas match?

Yes, we have seen the SEC style, but it has been twelve weeks since we have seen it. In part, my comment was based on Lambo's remark some years ago when we played Rice in Austin - "It took us a set to adjust to their speed." But it may have been the first-set bugaboo again. No postgame to shed any light on this. Sigh.

Nothing on YouTube or KU All-Access at this point, and I am not aware of any means of watching a replay via NCAA.

Creighton won the first set at Minnesota, 25-20. Had 5 blocks in the set, and a strong left-side attack.

Bluejays dug themselves into a deep hole in the second set, with the Gophers scoring the first 7 points, and while Creighton was able to close the gap somewhat at times, they weren't able to overcome the deficit, and Minnesota won the second set 25-17, tying the match at a set apiece.

Minnesota take the third set against Creighton, 25-23, to take a 2-1 lead.

dunno if Creighton ran out of steam, or if Minnesota just figured out some chinks to exploit in the Bluejay armor, but it doesn't look good.

KU (with a big assist from Shocker fans) did a good job supporting the 1st and 2nd round play in Lawrence. However, I wonder what kind of attendance we would have drawn if these rounds had been held at Koch Arena.

Would the KU - WSU final have sold out? Maybe not a total sell out, but I bet we would have come close.

Nebraska will no doubt sell out the Devaney Center in the future which I think will seat about 7,000 for VB.
