Sydney leads off with a bunt single but is caught stealing. Lauren has a two-out double, but Zoe cannot get her home.

Villanova has a one-out doubler who advances to third on a passed ball. A two-out walk puts runners at the corners, but a strikeout ends the inning. 5-0 after two.

Three up, three down in the Shocker third. Two strikeouts for the Wildcats to open their third, but then a walk, a single, and a walk load the bases. A ground ball and Sydney gets the force at third. 5-0 after three complete.

A note just added to LiveStats as to why Caroline did not get an RBI in the top of the first.

With one out in the top of the fourth, Sami walks and Sydney singles her to second. Addison's single loads the bases, and Lauren's single moves everybody up a base, driving home Sami. Zoe's sac fly scores Sydney with Addison and Lauren advancing also. (Must have been deep near the fence else Lauren is not tagging up.) Lolo singles home two more. 9-0 as we go to the bottom of the fourth.

Villanova goes in order in the bottom half. A runs-ahead win is in sight.

Pellicano is in the circle for the Wildcats among five changes to start the fifth.

With two outs, Sami and Sydney single and Addison walks to load the bases. Lauren doubles to score two, and Zoe walks to reload the bases. Lolo singles home another, but Lauren is thrown out at the plate to end the inning. 12-0 in the middle of the fifth.

With two outs, an error, stolen base, and single score an unearned run for Villanova.


Shockers 12-1(5) Villanova

LaurenL led the offense with a homer and two doubles among her four hits. She had six RBI. Sydney had four singles, and Lolo had three RBI with her two singles.

LaurenH had a nice start to her Shocker career. She had four strikeouts, giving up three hits and four walks. The run scored was unearned.

A thorough 12-1 5-inning run rule of a top 100 (last season) team isn’t a bad way to start off. I’m weary of Mullins in Game 2 this afternoon. They’ll need to come ready to play.
