Mullins pitched 3 innings in yesterday's game against the Shocks and, in fact, took the L in the game although she pitched pretty well. Texas State did not need her against Kent State yesteray.

I agree that the Shocks will definitely see her tomorrow. Probably as the starter.

      Saturday Games:

Texas State 5 - Kent State 1 (Jessica Mullins went the first 5 innings allowing 1 earned run on 7 hits, 2 walks, a hit batter while striking out 6)

Villanova 4 - Texas State 2 (Texas State led 2-1 after 4 innings but Villanova scored single runs in the 5th, 6th and 7th while holding TSU scoreless. TSU pitchers walked 9 and hit a batter)

A nice start to Alex's varsity career. Three ground outs in the top of the first.

Indeed and on only 8 pitches.

Sydney singles and advances on a groundout. Lauren walks, and Lolo brings Sydney home with another single. 1-0 after one.

With one out, Alex issues two walks on nine pitches, but a 6-4-3 DP gets her out of the inning. Nobody reaches base for the Shocks. 1-0 after two complete.

Three more outs for Alex including her first strikeout. 1-0 in the middle of the third.

Sydney has a leadoff double but a double by Lauren only moves her to third. A flair? No matter - a single by Zoe brings them both home. Morgan Bowers, a senior who did not pitch at all last year, is on in relief. She gets the two outs needed. 3-0 after three.

A leadoff single for the Flashes in the fourth leads to nothing. In the Shocker fourth, Sami walks with two outs, and Sydney doubles her home. 4-0 after four complete.

Alex gives up here second hit of the game, a two-out single, but no runs. Lolo has a two-out single for the Shocks, but a fly out ends the inning. 4-0 after five complete. Only 59 pitches for Alex through five innings. Kent State is not the toughest team Alex will see, but that is still an impressive number.

An infield single back to Alex and a couple of throwing errors that did not cost an out get a runner to third for Kent State but they do not score.

Analiese Kelly is in the circle to start the Shocker sixth. Taylor Sedlacek pinch-hits for Lainee and singles. Bailey is safe on an error that sends Taylor to third. Sydney's infield single loads the bases. Lauren doubles home two runs and another scores on an error on Zoe's ground ball. Lolo walks to load the bases again. Just one more run. Nope. 7-0 after six complete.

Krystin is in at 3B and Camryn is at 1B to start the seventh. Another three up, three down.

                Kent State 0-7 Shockers

A three-hit shutout for Alex, throwing only 89 pitches. She had two strikeout and two walks. Very nice first outing.

Sydney had four hits including two doubles. Lauren's two hits were both doubles, and Lolo had two singles.

Very solid debut by Alex Aquilar even considering Kent State is not the strongest competition. Syd and LaLu keep rolling. Addison off to a slow start. I ask again. Has someone tweaked her setup at the plate?

                    Game 4: Shockers vs Villanova

Alison Cooper in the circle. Camryn Compton gets the start at 1st base.

Would like to see Addison break out a bit in this game.

                      Game Four

                      Villanova v Shockers

Alison in the circle with a lineup change and some shuffling. After Lolo, it is Camryn 1B, Bailey, Lainee, and Sami. Peyton Schnackenberg is pitching for the Wildcats.

Hmm. They slapped the just-completed LS on top of the LiveStats for the Villanova game. Hopefully, that will get cleaned up quickly.

There we go. The 'Nova leadoff grounds out back to Alison. Two more groundouts follow. No score as we go to the bottom of the first.

A bunt single by Sydney leads off the inning, and she moves to second on a wild pitch. Addison advances Sydney to third with a long fly ball, and Lauren's double scores her. Lauren also moves up on a fly ball and scores on Lolo's infield single. 2-0 after one.

The Shockers have scored in the first inning of each game.

Alison with a very similar start to what Alex did in her 1st inning vs Kent State. 3 ground ball outs on 10 pitches vs 3 ground ball outs on 8 pitches for Alex. Let's hope the rest of the game follows suite.

A Shocker error starts the top of the second, but Alison gets the next three batters. The Shocks go down in order. 2-0 after 2.

The order past Lolo is not doing that much this weekend. I will look at that after this game.

After Alison's error in the third, the runner steals second but goes no further.

Sydney leads off the Shocker third with another double and again advances on a fly ball by Addison. Is the wind keeping those in the park? Lauren's single scores Syd. 3-0 after three.

Alison issues a one-out walk. With two outs, a single becomes an out as the runner tries to stretch it into a double. For the Shocks, some of the bottom half goes down in order. Still 3-0.

A two-out infield single leads to nothing for 'Nova. Alison has thrown 63 pitches over her five innings. With one out, another bunt single by Syd - but then she is caught stealing. Addison follows with a bomb over the center field fence. Oh, well. 4-0 after five full.

Krystin in at 3B to start the inning.

A single and an error and the Wildcats have a threat to start the sixth. A full-count walk and the bases are loaded with no outs. A sac fly and a ground out score two. Shocks lead 4-2 in the middle of the sixth.

Seems like Addison is starting to square some ball up this game although it is a little hard to tell without actually seeing how hard the balls were hit. Her first two at bats wher fly ball outs to CF but both of those allowed Syd to tag and move to 3rd. Generally, although not always, that indicate a relatively deep fly ball. In the 5th Syd was thrown out a 2nd attempting to steal and Addison followed with a home run to center, I think the wind is blowing in again today so getting a ball out is a lot tougher to do in those conditions.

With the game a little tighter, Zoe re-enters for Krystin. She delivers - home run on the first pitch. Alyssa Seidler is on in relief. Lolo singles and Camryn follows with another single that sends Siera Hoekstra, the designated pinch-runner for Lolo, to third. Camryn advances to second on the throw. They both move up on a wild pitch, Siera scoring. After Bailey fans, Taylor pinch-hits for Lainee but also fans. Another pinch-hitter - Caroline for Sami. Another out. A runner on third with nobody out and the Shocks can't get her home. Ugh. 6-2 after six complete.

Three up, three dow for Villanova in the seventh.

                              Villanova 2-6 Shockers

Alison gave up two unearned runs on three hits and two walks. She had four strikeouts.

Sydney continue to lead the hit parade. Three hits for Syd including a double and two hits for Lauren including a double. Lolo had two singles, and Addison and Zoe had homers.

After the first four games, the top five spots in the order are hitting .569, 37 for 65. The last four spots are hitting .149, 7 for 47. There is work to be done.
