Tough reversal (probably got it right in the end) changes the score from 14-15 Howard to 13-16 Howard.

The Shocks have no blocks through almost 3 sets today.

I'm afraid that's more because of talent than scheme. They'll get better, but I don't think this is ever going to be a tough blocking team. Hope I'm wrong though.

I don't necessarily disagree with that assessment. This year's team probably will not be a strong blocking team. But some of these younger players like Emma and Abby and perhaps Chase and Megan should get better at that skill over the next 3 years.

This team doesn't appear to be an especially strong serving team either.

I thought the 2nd touch dump by Kali was a big play late.

Shocks rally late to take a 25-22 win in Set 3 in a match that is proving anything but easy.

Through 3 sets Shocks hitting .301 and Howard .292 The difference is basically the 14 service errors by Howard compared to just 7 for WSU.

Longest point of the match goes to the Shocks as the go up 14-8 in Set 3. Now the Shocks need to stay focused.

Nevermind. Howard socres the next 3 and are back int he match at 14-11.

Make that 6 in a row for Howard, Tied at 14.

6 straight by Howard ties up the set that WSU had complete control of at 14-8.

Now 17-15 Shocks after a Pugh kill and 2 errors from Howard, and an Alex Koon hitting error.

The Shocks regained control of the set again at 23-17 but then Howard scores 3 in a row to force a Lambo timeout at 23-20.

Ironically, the Shocks end the 4th set on a stuff block and close out the set 25-20 and the match 3-1.

You would think Howard should do pretty well in the MEAC.

One hopes they will. They lost their 2 biggest guns from last year, but seemed to have plenty of firepower returning. I'm glad Jordan got into the mix today and performed well enough, and maybe that was the plan, but we need Kora to play, to win at a high level, imho.

I think Taylor Eldridge reported that all 3 would see action this opening series of matches. So my guess it was part of he plan.

I would not be surprised to see Lambo go more with a 5-1 look today at VCU with Kali setting. But we will see.

                      We are playing defense.

Can't get enough balls to Abby Pugh.

Lots of decisions to made centering around a redshirt of Grace Burken and Regan Stiawalt coming back from her injury.

Bottom line and final Lambo comment: We are still searching.

Also some stats (i.e. blocking) are at program lows under Lambo.

                      Sounds like Grace is starting.
