Not really surprised with tonight's performance considering the talent and leadership we graduated last year. Lambo does a lot of tinkering even with his best and most experienced team. I assume that will be substantially ratcheted up with this year's team as he searches for the best formula. A long way to go in the season which is good because this team seems like they have a long ways to go.

Abby and Emma were pretty solid in the middle tonight and Megan Taflinger was okay on the oustide but none of the other pin players were very good. Who would've thunk that Alex Koon would get 62 attacks in a match, even a 5-setter.

On the bright side it's always good to get a win to go along with the learning experience.

      Definitely a work-in-progress.

Good pre-game show with Lambo. Said the team spent about 4 hours yesterday tourning the capital. Ran into Senator Bob Dole at the World War II Memorial and had a photo opp with him. Said he and most of the players had not been to DC before. Sounds like they enjoyed it. The did get a practice in yesterday.

Said the JMU win over Missouri validates their win over JMU as perhaps being better than initially thought. He said that in looking at JMU's schedule they may not lose again this season. Also despite his comment coming into the season he said the defense probably carried them to the win over JMU.

Howard schedules a lot of the Big Girls including Stanford tomorrow so they are used to seeing good talent on the other side of the net and won't be initmidated by anything the Shockers can bring to the table. Howard has some good athletes and they have nothing to lose in matches like these.

Howard blistering the Shocks with their hitting so far .714. 3 service errors keeping the Shocks in it 7-6 Howard early in the 1st.

Chase Jackson off to a much, much better start today than on Friday. Good to see her bounce back.

Shocks down 7-12 in Set 2 and Lambo calls a timeout. Need the ladies to respond.

Rough play in set 2, Shocks trail 12-7 with Howard on a 5-1 run.

Prayers out to the folks in Florida and anyone dealing with that tragedy.

Shocks not really gaining any ground. Still down by 5 at 14-19.

Finally a little run to get within 2 at 20-23. Still a tough road.

A 4-point run by the Shocks cut the lead to 3 at 20-23. One point ruled in favor of the Shocks was reversed which would made the score 21-22 had the initial call stood. I have no idea whether or not thet got the call right or not.

Howard takes the 2nd set 25-21. The Shocks just dug themselves to deep of a whole and never really got much going outside of the late 4 point run late.

Jordan Roberts makes an appearance in set 3, serving and staying in to set. She's replacing Kora in the lineup this set.

Shocks have a 9-7 lead but neither team playing particularly well this set. Not clean.

                                Shox need a timeout.

                                Got one.

                                Trailing 12-10.
