There are not that many students spread out throughout the arena other than the members of the other sprorts teams that show up. That's an excuse with not substance IMO. Shocker Maniacs have tried numerous times, unsuccessfully, to generate an organized student turnout. But I think you are right that getting much student support for volleyball doesn't seem to be in the cards. If it hasn't happened at this point it probalby is not going to happen.

I know that not very many students show up. I never meant to imply otherwise. I'm still in favor of having a defined student section. Put whatever students that show up together and let them be as rowdy as they want.

As for Shocker Maniacs. The only reason I and most of my friends ever signed up for SM was that they let members in the door for basketball games 10 minutes before anyone else so if you wanted a seat in the first few rows you had to join or risk being held at the door while a hundred people that were behind you in line got into CKA and snapped up the seats you showed up early for. Other than that the organization was pretty much useless to us and we paid zero attention to it.

I really could not tell you. Nebraska pretty much sells out the 8,000 seat Devaney Center for their matches but I don't really know what they set aside for students (if anything).

I have been to road matches at Missouri State, Southern Illinois and Evansille. All had quite a bit better student turnout than WSU but none were really very big. It doesn't take much to beat WSU's student support. The non-student support at these places is nowhere near what we get at WSU. Among Valley schools UNI comes closest to WSU but they basically give their tickets away.

Temple had a very good student turnout when we played them in Philly this year.

But all this is very anecdotal.

Seeing KU lose is always good. Seeing them lose to us in Koch Arena would be perfect. I’m torn.
