  • I was hoping to have heard something regarding Carl by now. Nothing from NWF or the Eagle. Hopefully, Marshall has gotten some sort of a report. I know Marshall, as well as Shocker fandom, have a greater reason, due to experience, for concern regarding a future Shocker collapsing on the court.

    • NWF lost 74-73 last night.

NWF State suffered an early scare when the team's leading scorer and rebounder, Carl Hall, collapsed behind the team's bench early in the first half and did not return to action. GC athletic director Gregg Wolfe said Hall never lost consciousness, and Hall sat on the end of the bench for the remainder of the contest.

Raider coach Joe Richardson said he didn't know what Hall's prognosis was moving forward, and he acknowledged that the team struggled to adjust without Hall's presence on the floor.

Shox21 Please Note: What you posted is what we are talking about. Wuzee posted the article on this thread Thursday around 2:30.

                • Now that's fast reporting! At 4:50 PM I sent Paul an e-mail re: Hall, at 5:40 Paul e-mails me "Thanks. I'll check.", and by 6:13 PM the answer is posted.

I'll be interested in reading the NWF write up after tonight's game to see if they mentioned what the problem might have been.

Don’t flog me for bringing this up… it’s only speculation on my part. I was going to post this last night and decided it would look like I was searching for an excuse for our teams play. Prior to the game (I’m watching on MVC TV because I can’t get to the arena because of ice), HCGM looked like he had seen a ghost. Seriously, he didn’t look like he was feeling well and looked very pale (yes, I know he has a light complexion).

I realize this is more than likely unrelated; however it’s at least worth considering. The NWF game tipped off at 7:30 Eastern (6:30 Central) time and the write up said Carl Hall collapsed early in the game. With texting, blogs, twitter, etc., maybe coach Marshall had already heard the news?
Maybe. I think a lot of us have forgotten a week into the WSU job he watched a recruit, Guy Ntang, pass away right in front of him on the basketball court. I'm sure he's still carrying that memory with him.

                    • Oh wow...if anyone posted this I missed it. I had NO idea.

Carl Hall, who medically redshirted his first year at Middle Georgia College due to a heart condition, collapsed behind the NWF State bench early in the game and was examined by paramedics. His vital signs were strong, but doctors still haven’t been able to determine exactly what caused the incident.
Here is some more from that same article (it's the most recent article I can find):

Consequently, Hall will be unavailable against the Pirates and the Raiders aren’t sure when he will be back.

“He’s out until we’re told otherwise,” Richardson said. “We’ve got to run some more tests on him and we’re trying to get those going. But his health is more important than a basketball game.”

Without Hall, who is NWF State’s leading scorer at over 16 points per game, the Raiders will turn to a pair of newcomers to the starting lineup to help out in the post. Teraes Clemmons and Paxton product Demetrius Moore, both of whom had big games against the Commodores, will start tonight for the first time in conference play.
The fact he medically redshirted for a heart condition and now this happened doesn't sound good. I hope the young man is gonna be ok!

"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

This is not something you "get well" from, but hope to control. We're thinking of you Carl.

                            • Sure hope he is going to be okay, we are sure going to need him next year.

Will he play the 4 or the 5 next year for us? My way of thinking was Hall would replace Durley, and Jake White would replace Ellis or Blair?
