It's free. Carl is ranked overall #4 behind Johnson, DeWitt and Goff. They have him listed as the #1 ranked Center.
Just a couple of observations regarding the list:

The player listed 21: If he were recruited and signed, by Wichita State, I guess they could say that it was: "God's Gift to Wichita State"?

The player listed 143 must be quite good, because he is listed as being: "0'1" tall. Talk about going to a small lineup. That certainly would be it!

      At least he's a guard.

And I don't even believe #21's name.

Carl Hall's signing makes me recall a player named Simmy Hill? It seems like he was a Juco Transfer and was here for maybe only 1 Season? However, he was soooo good and was a solid contributor right out of the blocks. He was around 6'8"-6'9" and had some serious game. However, I could not even find his name on the Shocker all time player roster? Can somebody remember 'way back when' to this player? Do I have his name correct?

Either way, Carl Hall should be a solid player in our player rotation next Season from jump street in lieu of us losing some key big men after this Season. This signing was a breath of fresh Shocker air.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

One word comes to mind when I think of Carl Hall:

                'BALLER'

I had the pleasure of watching him in March at the NJCAA tournament... a man among boys. :good:
                SFL is back!

I remember Simmy. He was so smoooooooooooth in the lane. My memory is that he played on a freshman team but never on the varsity. Don't know what happened to him. remember though, I am officially old and CRS has set in.

I was saddened when he supposedly committed elsewhere and now I'm elated.

I was going to guess "late sixties", but found this:

                        1972
Freshman were unilaterally granted eligibility in 1972 (primarily for football and basketball), although there were occasions prior to then when they were allowed to play.

                          • Simmy Hill was at Wichita University (not yet in state system) and played on the freshman team, and he had very good statistics. Unfortunately, he had academic problems and later went to, I believe, Seminole Junior College for one year and then transferred to West Texas State.

At the time of his recruitment, some people considered him as one of the top two players in the country, with some of them considering him as the best player that year.

He definitely was good, but his academic problems overwhelmed him.

It is safe to say, unfortunately, that he never lived up to his full potential after he left Wichita University and Seminole Junior College. There was a lot of hope that he would go to the Junior College and then transferred back to Wichita, but he chose a different route and it did not prove as successful.

I would not go so far as to say Carl Hall is an equal to Hill's potential when Hill was coming out of high school and junior college. Many people saw Hill as a replacement for Dave Stallworth and that says a lot about the caliber player he was.

                            • Wikipedia has a little bit of information on Simmie Hill.

After Wichita University, he went to Cameron JC, then West Texas State. He also played 4 years in the ABA.

                              • Thanks for the correction about the Junior College that he went to. It has been so long ago that the gray matter has diminished.
