      • It does seem like it's been going quite a while. Longer than any other one at least.

        • We will probably always have interest in Noel. But, not being on his list of schools and now his H.S. coach says Louisville is as far away from home as Noel wants to go is pretty much the final nail in thinking we have a chance.

          • There is no way we get Noel even though his father and god farther are members of our hall of fame. Too hot for us and my estimation is we have no chance whatsover. I wish I am wrong

            • But, keep in mind....Noel's family and friends can fly non-stop from Atlanta to Wichita on AirTran, but cannot fly to Louisville direct except for on Delta...at least that I can find.

Noel had the hot hand and scored 46 in his last game. Top five are USC, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Louisville and Ohio State. Other offers include UCLA, North Carolina and Texas.

                  • Trop, is there any confirmation that Coach Marshall has had the opportunity to sit down with Noel and talk to him? You know his father and godfather are encouraging him to do what's best for him, and maybe these schools are better for him, but I would still feel better if he at least got the opportunity to sit down and talk to him.

Many players from Mid-Major to low majors have made it to the pro's, and many players from High majors have failed to do so strictly due to the lack of opportunity that sometimes presents itself at these schools.

                    • Just look at Memphis.

A so-so Mid-major until Calipari shows up, and now they're recruiting the top players in the nation.... and getting them.

                      • Well, Memphis plays in C-USA which has a better TV contract, more national exposure and more well known universities.

Not to knock the MVC or WSU, but Memphis has a better overall package to recruit too. I would like to see the Valley with an enhanced TV package through either Fox Sports or ESPN FullCourt. This would help greatly increase the exposure of the Missouri Valley.

I think we can be every bit as appealing as Gonzaga, and see us becoming that team that is in the Top 25 and the tourney every year with the ability to go to the Elite Eight or Final Four. They only fill a 6,000 seat arena to our 10,500, and thier fan base is ALMOST as passionate as ours.

It won't take long before Roy, Mack, and others are scratching thier heads going "They chose WSU over us?" and then losing to us in the next tourney!!

Shockref is probably the one that knows the scoop on this.

It doesn't appear we will get Noel, but IMO we have the right coach to bring in top players in the near future.

                          • I agree it appears Noel is out of the picture, I am just curious as to his thoughts about WSU.

He plays in a basketball rich area, his friends and coaches know lots of people. Growing up in Georgia, Wichita must seem a world away, but curious what the impression is of WSU among those players and himself.

                            • But at the same time, I wouldn't rule anything or anyone out.

Imagine if the later came sooner, and Noel and Derrick Favors both inked with the Shockers?

OK OK...enough dreaming...but what a dream it would be....probably earn starting spots as freshman, have a solid supporting cast, a school that has been deep in the tourney recently and as high as #8 in the polls....a passionate fan base...

Now if only we had a National TV contract...they'd be ours!!

                              • I just hope Marshall has had or will have the opportunity to speak to the kid, in person. In my opinion, Marshall has a much better chance of landing Noel than Turgeon – for a variety of reasons.

I have never expected Noel to sign with WSU. Based upon what I have read here, there has never been any indication out of his camp that he was seriously considering WSU. So I try not to think about what type of impact a player of his caliber could have on the program.

I also would be curious to hear what he thinks of the program. It would be interesting to hear how WSU is perceived in the recruiting world right now.
