  • Is there some reason we wouldn't hire Cheese ? That sort of thing happens all of the time in D1 BB.

    • It would require creating a spot that currently isn't available.

Yes it does, and while I'm not saying "we are above that", I repeat it is not going to happen....I'd suggest we concern ourselves with people and players that want to be a part of our program and their health and welfare....this ain't going to happen here.

Most other schools that use that practice don't have spots either, but mysteriously someone "quits" and a spot opens up.

          • That's the point. I'd rather have a little more loyalty to the current staff then hiring someone to get a player. It'd be different if one of the staff moved on to another job.

As Doc has said, it isn't going to happen here.

            • "That sort of thing" mentioned by Moshock just happened. Baylor is in the running for super recruit John Wall. They just hired his AAU coach to be their Director of Player Development.

              • Sounds like Baylor may have just bought the number one recruit in the class.

I'd laugh if he went elsewhere though

                • Perhaps it's not just between USC and UCLA. Noel is going to visit both of them this fall and he says that USC is the current favorite. However he is considering visits to Miami, N.C. State and Wake Forest also. He is also considering interest from Seton Hall, Virginia Tech and Harvard.

I guess Noel doesn't know we always beat Seton Hall in recruiting and on the court.

                        • "Cheese" will be making a visit to USC this weekend to catch the OSU game. Joining him, along with about 15 others, will be Kenny Boynton.

This sounds like a scene right out of the movie 'Johnny Be Good', where a high school star quarterback Johnny Walker (Anthony Michael Hall) is recruited by "U.C.C" and the “Old Tex Horny Toads.” I recall limo rides to strip joints, parades for the recruits, designated pi$$ers and more BCS cheatin' than you can shake a stick at. Johnny’s recruitment becomes a major NCAA investigation and an embarrassment to his family and friends.

If you have a sense of humor and you're a sport fan, this is a must-see movie. I recall it coming out in the late 80’s and also stars Robert Downey Jr. and Sr... and Uma Thurman... it’s a movie that Noel and Cheese should see.

I remember that. I slept through it at an after-prom party in '88.
