    6. Evan Wessel – Because he will play along side Perry Ellis at Wichita Heights, we like this young point guard to have an outstanding season. Already offered by Wichita State, he is also being followed by a number of Big 12 and Missouri Valley schools, and at 6’3” is an athlete with opportunities to play at the next level in football and basketball.

The biggest thing I took from that article is that we HAVE to at least recruit 2012's Anthony Buffalomeat. With a name like that, he's got stud written all over him.

Scout reports Wessell should be playing again in a week. Missouri State, UMKC and Staford are among the schools recruiting him.

It has been previously reported that he is being followed by several MVC and Big 12 schools.

Wessel is back in action and scored 16 in easy win over NW. With Wessel helping out, Ellis said to be better than ever with 38.

I watched him play this week. He definitely has good size and hops, and got a good share of rebounds. He can drive and that was where he scored most of his points. He's good at finding the open man, maybe tried to force it to Perry a couple of times though. Not sure if he has any outside shot, I think he shot one outside and it was an airball.

His shot is fine. Right now, he is at or near the top of the want list for 2012 signees.

Yes, a lot of memories of that gym. The basketball stars when I was there were the likes of Bob Norton, Mickey Mosier, John Burchell, Wayne Whitcomb, Jim Brown, J.R. Whedbee, Roger McDowell, Bill Nath, etc. Coaches Jim McNertney and later Chuck Sanger.

Of course, that was about 100 years ago.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but the last two postings bring back many memories:

Bob Norton, John Burchell, Wayne Whitcomb, Roger McDowell, Bill Nath -- guys that I played baseball and/or basketball with or against.

Ashockalypse and 1S0946shox when did you graduate from West High?

                              If memory serves me correct:

Bob, Roger were about class of 63
Wayne and Bill and Jim -- class of 64 (my class)
John Burchell -- class of 65

Not quite "100 years ago," but...

I saw EW play against Kapaun a few weeks ago and he is impressive. He has a real nose for the ball and a very high BB IQ. I hope he signs with the Shox.

He reminds me of MSU's Kyle Weems. Sorry if that offends anyone :D it's meant as a compliment. Weems is a stud.

Does anyone know if the ref in the pic one of our posters ?
