  • Coy visiting Monday

I hate to start a new topic but this kid is a big deal. He was once the #112 player in his class and is now #139.

The thing that looks odd is the baseball coaching staff hasn't talked to him but he says he's really starting to like Coach Marshall and his passion for the game (!). He's also good friends with Garrett Stutz.

If I was Johnny I would be more focused on baseball the kid was picked in the seventh round by the Phillies and if he went to Drake he wouldn't get to play baseball. That just doesn't make sense to me, the kid has a real future in baseball.

Sounds promising. I think I caught him on Metro Sports last year in an All-Star game. Looked pretty good, but didn't necessarily stand out. More (semi) local talent is always a good thing.

Come on Garrett - get your friend in a Shocker uniform.

This sounds more encouraging than I could have hoped for.

Friends of Stutz and everything Marshall said, Stutz confirmed.

He hasn't met the baseball staff yet - and Kemnitz is the lead guy for recruiting. Kemnitz tends to get along well with people. I'm sure he's heard of the coaching staff and a few success stories for infielders over the years. I think that will go well.

I thought something was going to happen quick and that he would enroll somewhere this spring. I thought WSU would be in the running. A lot of things fell into place real quick and the Stutz connection is priceless. I wonder if Coy will have time to play some video games with Marshall's son.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

If Drake is the only other player I like our chances A LOT!!! He does have a good relationship with the Bulldogs coach but I'd think the opportunity to play in our facilities and in front of our fans would top that of Drake. Not to mention being a part of one of the top baseball programs in college.

Don't get overly excited. I don't remember how many kids are technically nominated. But I went to schools as I've mentioned before with Ryan Murphy who didn't get many D1 looks and ended up at Washburn. He was a McD Nominee.

Coy is a top 150 guy on Rivals though. I believe 23rd SF in his class.

GThe McDonald nomination means nothing. Top 30 maybe in his State. But Coy would be a great addition.
