Johnny would indeed be another nice foundational addition to the blueprint being formed that will lead us back to the Dance we all long for. Along with him, it would be great when EO returns someday and gets enrolled and becomes an official Shocker.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Since he is transferring next semester, wont a School have to have a schollie open right now.

Good question. I was also wondering if he was here next semester would he practice with the team once he enrolls?

And would he play baseball this year or next?

I'm pretty sure he would practice immediately. Depending on how fast the hardship paperwork was processed, I think he could theoretically play this year, but I seriously doubt that is being considered. In baseball, the transfer rules are not nearly as restrictive. He could play this spring if Gene thought he was ready and needed.

How about the chance to follow in the foot steps of former Shocker 3b's and major leaguers Koyie Hill, Connor Gillespie, and Casey Blake (aka the 17 million dollar man)?

Seems like they turned out OK and all three were in the Show just three months ago.

Couple the baseball program's team success and individual player development along with Marshall's personality and current and future personnel and we should have as good a shot as anybody.

Baseball now has the same transfer rules as basketball. He would have to sit out a year. Of course if he gets some type of hardship transfer then other things are possible.

I wish the weather were a little nicer today for his visit. A walk around the Eck is a great receuiting tool!

Oh it'll be nice and cozy inside Koch tonight though.

Our previous athletic director did not let a little winter weather hinder his recruiting of Gregg Marshall.

Don't short change your baseball earning potential. Our legendary coach knows how to develop undrafted players into multi-millionaires. While at Drake you might never know what could have been on the diamond.

One thing's for sure, the road that leads to both the CWS and Sweet 16 and beyond begin in Wichita.

It's warmer in Wichita than it is in Des Moines.

I was reading RC20 post and he had a good example of the young man who was drafted after being the QB @ Oregon. Are there any other examples ? I don't know what WSU's number is but there has to be an incredible amount of draft picks over the past 20 + years. Many of those are first 5 rounds.

IMO, if my son were to want to eventually make his living in sports, his greatest opportunity would be at WSU as opposed to Drake.

Playing devil's advocate here, but say he does come to WSU, wouldn't he be MLB draft eligible after his sophmore season ? Would it be worth having him for only two years potentially ? I'm sure that HCGM would want some kind of commitment for our investment.

You keep him for as long as he wants to stay. If it's two years, great. If it's four years, even better.

You don't not take a kid just because he may not be here for four. That's why we do bring in JUCOs. If they can help you take them.
