While I would like taller recruits this is a big kid. tall and wide.

IMO thats what we do need where as outside of Paul its been either tall/short/skinny

It depends on what his size really is. This site lists him at 6'9". And while I know we would all like a 6'10" or taller kid, I'm not going to quibble over 1 inch.

I still think sometimes people get too caught up in the 6'10" mark. Sure, all things being equal we'd love to have one that has talent. But more importantly, I think we need strong post players. That's why I think Durley, at 6'7", should be fine. And as thick as Ravenel is, I think he'd be fine too.

If Ravenel has a little speed and/or quickness at his size (relatively, of course), it can easily make up for an inch or two in height.

            GMU

Yes, we should all remember Jai Lewis from George Mason, who seemed quite adequate at 6-7. Maybe GMU came up short against Florida, but who didn't?

Would we turn down a Charles Barkley look alike, I wonder.

What do you mean by "look"
game wise that person should be fired.

Without even looking to guys that are NBA star caliber players, you only need to look at Stout and Coleman at UNI to know that you can have a productive post game without great height if the strength and skill is there.

Has SIU (as much as I loath their "style" of play) ever suited someone over 6'7" or 6'8"? You can overcome height in alot of games depending on the gameplan and how you condition your players.

Stout and Coleman both go 240. Someone else mentioned Jai Lewis who was listed at 275. Obviously the ability create some space around yourself makes a difference. Having seen all three at Koch, I would have guessed Lewis was shorter than the 6'7" listed, while I would add two inches to the 6'8" and 6'6" listed for Stout and Coleman respectively. By comparison our "big body" would be Durley listed at 6'7" 237. I've never seen Durley side by side with Coleman, but I have seen 6'7 230 Philip Thomasson and I would say Coleman's the bigger player.

Not sure where I'm going with this, but I would take a Jai Lewis or an Eric Coleman or a Charles Barkley - as "4's." I'd definitely take Stout, but I don't put him in the same category as those two. Stout could play "5" as he was plenty tall with long arms.

He's added an official visit to Boston College on Sat.

                        Stay tuned.

Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Odd. I wonder why he'd pick the first weekend in a month that the football team won't be there.

BTW, I hope the Irish can pick up win numero dos against the fourth ranked Golden Eagles (or UBICH as they're commonly referred to)

This is total speculation, but it sounds as if maybe his Virginia Tech visit was a disappointment and he wants to give another shot to a BCS school.

I think we are second fiddle to BCS and would not hesitate to keep recruiting a big man and if he is out in the cold so be it.
