I read the stories linked above, at least those that don't require a membership. I also did some of my own research and couldn't come up with much about AV. I don't see any references anywhere to his stats for the last year at Blair. I saw that he was recruited by Illinois State when he committed to Davidson so maybe Jans has some familiarity with him. I guess I'm not quite ready to put him in the "beast" category yet. But, as always, I'll trust the coaches.

Could be a sleeper here, it is difficult to know for sure. Aaron Ellis fell into our laps when South Carolina would not admit him.

In looking at the picture above he definitely has some work to do to develop his upper body strength.

However, he looks like he has a good base to build on. Compare the legs on AV to the kid he is blocking. Looks pretty stout there.

If he was good enough for Davidson to sign there has to be some potential to be a good player you would think.

like I said earlier, this kid has got it. He needs time to develop, but I think HCGM will offer this kid. I think we need another center next year, but this kid could really help us.

Sounds like this kid would be more of a 4 than a 5 based on what very little info that is available.

Do you really think we are looking at him as primarily a 5?

I read it as, "in spite of the fact that we need a center, we might offer this kid instead."

The staff hasn't seen him play is the key the story. We are just prospecting for right now and he is no closer to being a Shocker than many others WSU has checked out but decided to go in other directions.

goshocks: What is the source of your optimism? I'm not saying it's not warranted, I'm just wondering what I'm missing. If you have some inside information and would prefer not to divulge, I respect that, but I guess I'm scratching my head a little over your comments.

                    Re-read. You're right. I misread.

ting ting ting... we have a winner. i just think this kid could be good for us. it would increase competition in practice, maybe even push durley a little. he rebounds well, can score. I just get a feel that this kid fits HCGM's player profile. I had the same feel for Chamberlain when I read his stories and I got the feel that he was a "player."

"If he's smart he will make the right move?" Ummm, apparently not if he did not academically qualify at Davidson. If he can't qualify there, what makes you so sure he could qualify here? :D

This kid is a 6'9" combo forward. He is not a center.

Hey rookie, see the Aaron Ellis example and you will understand.

I hate to throw water on the fire, however, check numerous box scores for Blair Academy and the most points I ever found he made was 9. Usuall scored 3 to 5. Dont know what this means but doesn't indicate he is someone that will put us very high scoring wise.
