As we all know, committing is the unofficial way of telling other schools to back off (even though some still pursue until the recruit signs on the dotted line). Taking visits after committing is not how this stuff works.

So I would put that idiotic comment on the writer, not Landers.
    From Landers regarding WSU:

Wichita State-“They have been in it, they are just low key. They seem to love me though! The head coach loves me. They love me as a whole and they want me to come out there so bad, so I mean why not.
The bolded portion sounds a little flaky to me and doesn't inspire much confidence that he takes WSU seriously. That fits the idea that he might still want to take visits even after committing elsewhere because, "why not".

That makes a bit more sense. Still...only time will tell how this thing plays out.

I don't forsee Visiting after committing to another team. Easy love might happen until he signs and then tough love after. Marshall is a master at building and maintaining a winning culture. As long as he has a good number of high character kids like Landry, Markis, and Alex Lomax, he will take on a character project.

That and the whole elimination bracket he made to narrow his list down was a bit too much too.

I'd be really disappointed in our staff if we hosted a kid on an official (or unofficial) visit that verbally committed to another program. That said .. they wont do that.

So if that's how Nolley wants to play it, that's further proof of his flakiness. Let Underwood deal with him.
I agree. It doesn't make sense to use up an official visit on a kid that has committed elsewhere does it? There are limits on how many offiical visits a school can host. D-1 Men's Basketball teamss can host 24 visits each rolling 2-year period. So the number of visits you can host this year depends on how many you hosted last year but the number of visits you will be be able to host next year depends on how many you host this year. So a little planning and forethought is required.

I agree. I doubt they would do it even if they thought they had so extra visits to play with.

On top of that, recruiting a committed kid is shady. I wouldn't want other schools recruiting our commits, so i would hope the staff wouldn't do that.

3G wants guys that want to be here. He would never pay for a visit just so a kid can get a free trip to Wichita. This kid is all ego anyway, doesn't fit with the personality of our guys.

Visits, official and unofficial, happen all the time in football recruiting.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
                      ---------------------------------------
Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I assume you guys over analyzing what a 17 said during a phone conversation... lots of casual discussion can leave things up for interpretation.

If the kids fits a need and wants to come... bring him in.

Say fair things. Saying he says flaky things in the media, is fair. I agree. If someone quotes negative comments from someone on the coaching staff, that is fair. Our coaches should really know him. Saying he is all ego (like you really know him) from a few articles written by others and by a few 50 word tweets, I think is not responsible. Social media has it's flaws and sometimes it rears it's ugly head on here, and to be honest, sometimes, I am guilty too.

                                From the interview:

SC: Underwood coaches some of the fastest offenses in college basketball. How do you think you would fit into an Underwood system?
LN: I think it can be good. The more shots, the more possibility I have to put points up. He talked about that and that it’s a high pace where they run everything through their shooters. That’s good.
That statement makes it a little surprising that WSU made his top 5.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
