If he's walking on, which everything seems to indicate he is, this seems like a pretty good get for us. It appeared he could've drawn low-major to maybe mid-major scholarship offers and FWIW, max preps had his team ranked in the top 100 nationally. Welcome to Shocker Nation, Steven!

I saw the same thing. Also that he was second team All-State in West Virginia.

Seems like a very solid pickup for a walk-on. Even if its just for extra depth and a practice player.

Someone pointed this out somewhere else. Steven was on the #1 team in West Virginia. He had preferred Walk-On offers from both West Virginia and Wichita State. He chose WSU over his homestate Big 12 WVU.

Not just home state, but if I remember reading correctly, his high school was in Morgantown, same city as WVU.

                    Yes, confirmed as preferred walk-on.

Wonder when the window for enrolling at Sunrise closes???? Could be the coaches will evaluate
how he stacks up against the others this summer in scrimmages and move him to Sunrise if he
                      needs more experience.

Not sure I understand why they would move someone to Sunrise that is committed as a walk-on. Makes sense as a way to free up a scholarship, not so much as a walk-on.

I don't know when the window closes, but it doesn't apply here. He's coming to be a part of this team right now. He's not going to Sunrise, no matter what any evaluation might say.

So is this a Ron Baker-esque type pickup? Meaning we don't have scholarships, if we had we would offer you one, so come play for us and we will work something out?

                              I don't think so
