I know I took a lot of flack from some people for my boosterism on his behalf, but he had to have been a pretty good natural athlete to be able to play as a quarterback and then have the kind of career he had here as a walk-on.
IMO, he probably could have gotten a low-level D1 scholly as a quarterback, especially given the success he had with an Oklahoma football powerhouse in high school (both Putnam City and Putnam City West's football programs have great reputations).
Correction: He actually went to Putnam City North. I found this old link:

As already mentioned earlier, my Dream Team of recruits last Season was signing KBW and Willis. I like the way Willis rebounded for us and believe his SR. Season will be solid as so many of our Juco players seem to do. As far as Williams, sometimes it is all about finding a good fit. I think of transfers like Armstud and Kyle Wilson who found a better fit here. I think of Semi Ojeleye who departed from Duke to SMU in search of a better fit for him. I really hope we get Williams which could be twin towers with A.M.? Whomever does sign Williams, will have a solid big IMO which we could truly use. A year of him learning our System here could deem invaluable and assist in reloading our inside game that will be hit hard by graduation.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
