  • Definitely sounds like an appealing atmosphere to step into, doesn't it, RDR?

Of course, UNM does have that big balloon fiesta a few miles down the road every October. But hopefully teammates picking each other up and aiming way high as a unit -- high as a balloon, one might even say -- will offset even the balloons from Down Under that make the trip most years, not to mention Exciting (!) Lobo (!) Football !!!

I usually reserve likeability for newcomers, but in this instance, I am pretty sure that I will like Grady.

      • Mr. Grady will blend in fine with our bigs this Season. He was a huge signing for us and I can see him playing along side with Shaq often this Season. I'm hoping our young bigs really improve this Season and Bush really steps up as many of our Juco players do their Senior Season. We are being picked early on in the top 10 this Season already and this deems to be quite realistic IMO.

Lost in a lot of the off season talk about Humphries is Mr. Grady. I appreciate you bumping this thread. If someone were to ask me which player would be more likely to do big things for WSU this season, Humphries as a 17 year old or Grady as a 5th year senior with solid D-1 stats for his whole healthy career, I think I know what my answer would be...

I'm REALLY looking forward to having Grady here at WSU. Isaac who? :) best of luck to him at UK, but we've got a really great prospect for our C/PF position this year in Grady. He deserves a little more talk than he is getting.

          • As Gene Hackman stated in the Hoosiers flick with a hefty twist of SN prolixity--"Our team is on the floor, they are not satisfied, they are angry, we have the great wall of Shaq, on defense we are stingy and our hair is on fire, on offense we will be with Freddie and the Baker Makers' as we will blow off the roof with inside/outside points, we are cleanly shaved, our best is good enough, and we will be deeper with quality depth than ever before. Shocker basketball draweth nigh and we shant not already be excited."

            • In the flick "Saturday Night Fever" John Travolta kept saying "Don't worry about nothin"!!!!!!! While we all would have loved Issac to join us, our Shocks will be "stayin alive--stayin alive" for several reasons.
1.MR. Grady will improve our rebounding, can defend, and can score both inside and then out. 2. The Great Wall of Shaq did solid feats at times as a Freshman. Look for him to be in better shape, defend better without fouling as much, and improving his all-around game. 3. Is it true that Rauno has become one of Kerry's best friends while spending extra time building muscle in the weight room? He can already drain the 3 but 3G wants him to be like windex and clean glass on both sides of the court during his Soph. Season. 4. Mr. Kelly has been shooting 500 shots a day? Nice!!! These are among reasons Shockers improve and develop their game here at 21st. and Hillside. 5. Bush--could he be our rim protector? He had some nice defensive outings last Season and helped slow down Tuttle in the game here to a mild roar. Juco players have their best Season here as Seniors usually. 6.Will Hamilton be able to work into the player rotation this Season? Time will tell but he will sure get a fair opportunity to prove himself and learn our System.

But there is more. Wessel, McDuffie, and Brown can sure play the 3 or the 4. Sleep well Shocker fans. We have the very best set of guards with solid rotation guard players as well in the Country this very Season IMO and maybe our best quality depth overall ever here this very Season. Our top 10 early predictions will become a reality. The Roof!!!!!!!

              • We have a very good starting unit with FVV, Baker, Grady, Evan/Zach +1. Great bench with Shamet, Frankamp, Evan/Zach, Shaq, Kelly, Bush. Rauno, McDuffie, Hamilton and Taylor are all capable of being in the mix too.

                • I think Grady will play a lot of minutes. I think he will be a major contributor to our success. I'm not 100% sure he's a starter, not because I don't think he's worthy or wouldn't be a great starter, but because I think we've got some incredibly talented other guys that are going to be fighting for those starting spots along with him.

I'll only concede starting spots to Fred and Ron. The rest are up for grabs to whoever impresses the coaches this fall. Some may have inside tracks but they best not assume any position is theirs. This is as it should be.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

                    • True that nobody other than VanVleet and Baker have earned starting spots, but Evan is damn close and Anton has the versatility to play the 4 or the 5. Certainly those two and Zach will be playing a lot of minutes whether they start or not.

                      • A year ago, some posters were insisting that if wessel was still in the starting rotation by the time we played Memphis, the Shox were in big trouble.

Well, Wessel was still in the starting lineup when the Shox earned a spot in the S16. That's the kind of "big trouble" I can live with. Marsahall tends to play the more experienced players.

Grady's PT will be determined by...wait for it... Grady. If Grady can learn the assignments, offensive schemes, defensive rotations, and box outs, he's in. I'm expecting a starting lineup with 4 Sr's and 1 Soph. Morris, Kelly, and Brown are the contenders for the 5th starter.

Not his freshman year...but ever since that, yes.

                              • If Wessel is starting in the post season, there is no way we will be able to beat a big time team like KU.
