Aren't we down to just one schollie unless somebody leaves the program?

Currently, WSU has five scholarship seniors, no juniors, four sophs plus Frankamp, and four freshmen. That means five spots will come open, and two are spoken for by unsigned commits CJ Kisser -- uh, Keyser -- and Daishon Smith. It's speculated that Frankamp and Peyton Allen will both get scholarships (and I thought I read a comment somewhere recently from Marshall that Frankamp will eventually be on scholarship, although no specific timetable was mentioned as to how soon); it's also speculated by Doc that maybe they won't.

IF both commitments turn into signings, there are three spots left UNLESS someone leaves, so IF Frankamp and Allen are both on scholarship next year AND nobody currently on scholarship leaves early, there is indeed just one spot scheduled to be open for next season, and NONE for the following season UNLESS the limit of 13 is raised. But all of that's based on an "if", an "unless," another "if," an "and," and yet another "unless," so who knows?

What we do know is that, notwithstanding some Shockernet skepticism, Marshall can count; he can sell guys on paying their own way for awhile to be part of his program; and that he seems to have a strong desire to keep all possible scholarships filled. We'll see where that leads these next couple of recruiting seasons.

I believe WuDrWu has hinted several times that he is not expecting all the walk-ons to receive scholarships like people are expecting.

Allen has said the agreement is he has a scholarship next year. Marshall has said Conner gets a scholarship in the future. Unless something really unusual occurs, they will have scholarships next year.

My hopes are we sign 2 of these 3 players. 1.Willis 2. Mitchell 3. Santos. Then if a ship opens up, we may want to sign the very best Center we can find. Hopefully, we will see Mitchell at 21st and Hillside tomorrow night. When the dust settles, we should truly really like this recruiting class when it is all said and done. So far. so good. Any thoughts on this or other ideas?

That would make us one over. Pretty standard stuff.

Scary part right now (not to me, but possibly to recruits) is that IF we somehow convinced one of the youngsters to pull a Ron Baker/Peyton Allen/Conner Frankamp move and pay their own way, it would be a two year pay your own way instead of a one year IF nobody left the program. The great thing about it as a fan is that although it may change throughout the season, there isn't anyone I'd LIKE to replace on our team. Don't get me wrong. If some 4-5 star stud fell into our laps, I'm sure I could find somebody I could do without, but being able to look at 13 guys and not seeing one you'd want to be without is a rather enviable position to be in I think. Add some of these walk-ons that we're glad to have, and it's a pretty special time for the program.

I think that if either Allen or Frankamp have a major screw up they won't get a scholarship. However, if both perform well in the classroom and off the court, I can't imagine either not getting a scholarship.

Mitchell posted on Twitter that he is considering going to prepschool and reclassifing to 2017.
