I actually just read a little short interview with him where he said that on his AAU team he gets to play more point guard because they have bigger guys in the post. Now, I don't see him ever being a D1 point guard, but just having some of those skills at that size sounds pretty interesting. How big could we go if Zach was at the one, this kid at the 2, McDuff at the 3...? Probably not realistic for any length of time, but it would be fun to see, and we all know 3.3G will try some things we don't expect.

It's between Utah State, Wichita State and Central Michigan. We are the last visit and he will chose before season starts. Got to like our chances.

      Tweet regarding Mitchell:

His last official visit is Wichita State on Oct. 22. According to his dad, he will probably make his decision before the hoops season starts

Could he commit at Shocker Madness?

Shocker Madness is NOT a spectacular event and will not be what decides this kid (unless it's in the negative). Now, if he is looking for a TEAM in every sense of the word, we have it, and it goes without saying that the coaching staff is A-1. I still cringe when I hear that a valued recruit is visiting for Shocker Madness. However, I want it known that I attend EVERY year and enjoy getting a first look at the new guys blended with the veterans.

I'm not sure that I wouldn't rather have Nicola Djogo instead. We'll have to wait and see. He's the same type of player. I wouldn't think that both would sign.

Let's see if Djogo is still available after next week. I give it 50/50.

No doubt Shocker Madness isn't really all that mad, but that's okay. I'm not sure that the sort of guy to get swept off his feet by the extravaganzas some schools put on is really a Play Angry type anyway. Can you imagine FVV deciding on the basis of a spectacular opening scrimmage / practice? I don't think so.

Utah State? Central Michigan? We're clearly his best option. Is he our best option?

We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

That's why Marshall gets the big bucks from WSU and you and I don't, Aargh -- to make judgment calls like that one, among other things. He has a staff to consult with, he has Chris Jans to consult with now, and he has a pretty good track record. So if WSU thinks Mitchell is the right guy for a commitment and to go with when signing day comes, I'll take their word for it until somehow it's proven otherwise.

                        • My hopes are we sign 2 of these 3 players. 1.Willis 2. Mitchell 3. Santos. Then if a ship opens up, we may want to sign the very best Center we can find. Hopefully, we will see Mitchell at 21st and Hillside tomorrow night. When the dust settles, we should truly really like this recruiting class when it is all said and done. So far. so good. Any thoughts on this or other ideas?
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Aren't we down to just one schollie unless somebody leaves the program?

Yes. So depending on if we were to get one of those 3 players, then next year's team would have 1 or 2 Fr., 4 So.,7 or 8 Jr., and 0 Sr. on scholarship.

If I figured that right, that means the following year we'd have no scholarships available without someone leaving. The best case scenario would be that someone left early to go to the NBA.

I believe WuDrWu has hinted several times that he is not expecting all the walk-ons to receive scholarships like people are expecting.
