I did not realize that Greg Heiar was in on C.J. and brought him to Sunrise Christian. He was one class from being eligible. Then he signed with CSU before coming back to WSU.

I have seen multiple national media people (like the above post) rave about CJ. ESPN is going to feel foolish, again, for dropping his rating. I am convinced that is why ******* is consistently down on us. Our players make him look silly by outperforming their rating that he assigns. Hope you join the club, CJ!

I thought about including Hamilton. Thought CJ and Shamet seem to be more finesse dunkers whereas Hamilton is a "I'm going to try to destroy the goal" type of dunker ha! Both are equally exciting.

I saw CJ Keyser yesterday as his Brewster team played at St. Thomas More in a Battle of unbeatens. STM led by 20 at the half, Brewster made a furious comeback to get within 5, but STM made their FTs down the stretch to win by 5. CJ seems to be a leader on the team, based on his talking to/instructing his teammates, even while on the bench.

CJ is most definitely a defensive-minded player. He guarded STM’s best offensive player, Christian Vital, a 6’2” UNLV commit. CJ got caught helping out a little too much, leaving Vital open for some 3s, which he made. CJ is a very active defender who got some rebounds and a few steals, but I don’t remember any blocks. He and Vital had a running verbal battle moist of the 2nd half. I think Vital said/did something to one of CJ’s teammates and CJ took up the challenge. He’s got a mean death stare. CJ also had some things to say to the refs, and one stare almost got him a T. CJ fouled out late in the game.

Offensively, he’s more comfortable running the team than looking for his own shot. As a PG, he had many opportunities to take a 3, but I don’t remember him taking any. He also struggled trying to break defenders down with the dribble. His handle needs work, as he either lost the ball or ran into interference trying to get to the rim. STM has Omari Spellman, a very talented 6’10” 285 lb. Nova commit. He may be need to get to the rim more to be a scorer. Since it wasn’t an open court type of game, he didn’t have any chances to take the rim down. Stats are tough to find in these games, but I guess he had maybe 6 pts.

Hopefully, STM is so good it made it tough for CJ. I’ll check Brewster’s schedule to see when I might be able to watch CJ again.

P.S. CJ loved my Shocker baseball-type jersey saying, “I gotta get me one of those.”
