Here is a nice summary rating the MVC recruiting class. This was written before CF came on board.

There you have it. Best player with the most potential = McDuffie

Best defender and athlete = Taylor

        Best scorer = Shamet

Well, you've got two coaches who are entering hot seat territory and their teams are as bad as the day they took over. I'm not sure how you can really recruit anyone other than undiscovered players and troubled talent. I bet you'd have a lot of guys go with their other suitors. I hate to say it about Barry (and I do think he deserves another year still) but if these two teams continue on course we may be seeing some new coaches soon.

They each only have one roster spot available (graduating seniors). Hopefully they find a plug and play JUCO.

By the way, we only have 2 roster spots available. Just sayin'.

I'm not going to pretend to know much about the other Valley teams, but what I see is that's what Bradley did last year, adding a bunch of jucos. Don't know how many players are walk-ons on their roster, but they show 11 juniors, yet both of their freshman are seeing about 37 minutes between them. For a struggling program, this would appear to be a disaster coming. They may show great improvement as the year goes on and for next year, but what's going to happen when those 11 juniors are gone? They need a good class coming in next year.

At least SIU has a bunch of freshmen this year, so the future should be brighter. This should give Barry more than 1 year. Nevertheless, they probably have places to make improvements if they are going to continue to turn it around.

Not sure on the future of Bradley, but they have one junior that is red shirting and that is a walk on. So, they will graduate 9 next year if no one leaves this year.

Louisville had signed two over (it may be only 1 now).

Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't you or maybe somebody else, ask Rick Pitino if he can count. :)

Not sure what your point is. It was suggested that Bradley and SIU could not help themselves very much for the upcoming year because they had only 1 senior (available spot opening up). I disagreed saying they were in no position, particularly Bradley, to have only one senior spot stop them from being more aggressive in their recruiting. It does not stop HCGM and I know he can count.

Well I think BU takes a different stance on over-signing than some. At least their fans have mentioned as much.

If so, that is their choice. I believe all student athletes that are offered and elect to come to a school be given a good opportunity to succeed at that school. However, succeeding at that school does not always happen. Many times, the choice to move on is best for both.

I would look at it differently if players were not helped to find another school and if scholarships were not available to those players at new schools. One of the new proposals for schools to be able to provide student athletes with a guarantee of a 4 year scholarship is a great idea as long as that educational only scholarship does not count against the limit. The player can choose to quit sports and still get his education or he can move on. My guess would be, not many will take that education offer without the athletics being a part of it.
