What, DJ06 and RMS -- you're pinning your revival hopes on two who don't have football, instead of one that does but can't afford basketball unis?

Heresy! (at least in some circles around here)

Loyola plucked one out of our back yard:

2015 Sunrise Christian (KS) guard Roosevelt Smart has committed to Loyola (IL), his coach said.

As long as it took for WSU to tap into the Sunrise pipeline -- and as successfully as they've finally done with Brown and Nurger, and presumably with Hamilton next year -- I'm certainly not going to complain when others come in and land players, especially those to whom WSU apparently didn't even extend an offer.

WSU's current Sunrise situation is a very good one. About the only way they could hope to improve on it would be if the Shocks could someday manage to convince someone who had been placed there by another school (a future Buddy Hield, for example) to join WSU instead.

I'd hoped this would finally happen, at one point it seemed like we had trouble getting much interest from any of the guys there.

Buddy wasn't placed at Sunrise by OU as far as I know, but Nurger was originally committed to Ole' Miss.

                  Feel better?

Can't help what? Pointing out that Sunrise is very close to WSU (back yard) and that a MVC school got a commitment from a player there?

Find another tree to bark up. I wasn't implying whatever it is you think I was implying.

The 2 mags I read did not include any Shocker on their all-newcomer list for this Season. Collectively, I have to wonder if we have the best overall group of newcomers in the Valley because this is quite a special incoming class of Shockers IMO. Out of our group, I think Nurger and Kelly could prove to be gems and I am high on Henderson.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I'm sure the reason there weren't any Shockers on their all newcomer list was because it wouldn't look professional to just list ALL of our new comers.

The Shockers will not have to build their game around a newcomer, so our newcomer's stats will be less likely to draw attention of the voters.

Exactly. At the 1-3 our newcomers will very likely be reserves playing 8-15 minutes a game while learning the ropes from one of the best backcourts in the country before taking over in future years. It's a bit different at the 4 and especially the 5 and I hope we will see one or two of our posts on the MVC all newcomer team at the end of the year.

I agree with the above. It's hard to know in the pre-season which of the JUCOs/frosh will see enough extended minutes to warrant consideration. All five of the newbies are 3* recruits and with Carter having the ability to play either front court position, it's anybody's guess.
