  • I know the highlight videos only show shots he makes. But his 3-pt shots sure look smooth, like he's shooting free throws.

Thanks for saving me the effort....@shockmonster: made me spill milk when I read his question. No offense @shockmonster:, just one of those things.

      • If height for position was the most important quality, Bush W and Nurger would see a lot more playing time.

Tell me this kid is a lock-down defender and demands rebounds, and I'll pencil him in early.

Until then, he's a young kid with a lot of potential that will have to grind his way into the lineup.

He averages 7 boards a game for a top 10 national program and plays for Bob Hurley. Chances are he's a pretty high level rebounder and defender.

Yeah. That would be like someone in the NBA asking if one of our players plays defense. The answer is, "He plays for coach Marshall."

            • I'm really excited about the prospects of a couple of years of Shaq, Hamilton, and McDuffie together down low. Mix in Brown, Shamet, and Frankkamp and that's a pretty big and talented group.

Doc WU. You need to re-read this. His size, physique, and style of play remind me of KEvin D. He isn't expected to be as good.

Why won't he be as good? He might not be player of the year as a freshman, but by the time he's a senior, he could be a legitimate lottery pick.

True, and monkeys could fly out my a$$, however the probability is very low… oh, I’d love to eat more crow. I'm the guy that said Gameday wouldn't come to Wichita.

                    • I'm sure with McDuffie already coming in as a 4-star, Marshall can make him into a 5-star by the time he's a senior.

I read somewhere that shocker coaches told him that he could be a major contributer out the gate as a freshman

I honestly think they tell all recruits that...not as a sales pitch, but because they see the potential in all the guys they offer. I believe the "major contributor" is contingent on the offseason activities of the player and that the coaching staff points them out, i.e., you can be a huge factor right out of the gate if you:
                          A) work hard in the weight room
                          B) shore up your handles
                          C) develop a 15 foot, 18 foot, 20 foot shot
                          D) commit to defense
                          E) understand the offensive schemes

                          • The nice thing about the way Marshall recruits is he can tell players they will play if they can help the team. We've had freshmen contributing for the last few years.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

                            • We wondered if Cle would play the 3 here, but more so he played the 4. Having a tall 3 like MM would be really something in terms of match-up problems we would present. For sure he can score and drain the 3. Kerry needs to be his best friend as is so many Freshmen. With that said, will MM be more like a Cle here and play the 4? Here in something to ponder. Would it had not been nice if Cle would have been here all 4 years?

Enter MM for 4 years, along with Frankamp for 3, and some very talented incoming guards here next Season. Hamilton will be here and learning our System. Now let us ponder about this. Will the Shocks bring in Mulder or a Juco big? Not both, right? Dunno but 3G is cleanly shaved, knows how to recruit better than any Coach here ever, and players develop into better players when they arrive. Last but not least, if Baker does indeed return next Season, I will be beside myself. If he don't, we will still be scary good. Don't ask me to resolve the ships. That's not my job. However, as I dream about this Season and next, I like very much what I see. By the way. Gotta go. We have a game right here and right now to play at the Lew. To be continued.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                              • If MM reaches his potential, he might not be here for 4 years. But I am fine with that!
