Looks to me like he is closer to 180-185 than 168.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

    • Well, Paul's 168 is the only time I'm seen him listed at that weight, so it's quite possible the heavier number is right. Somebody needs to dig up an old picture of Ron Washington, who was even lighter, although only 6-5, so we can compare spindlyness (actually, "spindliness" is probably the right spelling).

      • Current recruiting sites:

        CBS 247Sports: 185lbs
        Rivals: 185lbs
        Verbal Commits: 180lbs
        Scout: 180lbs
        ESPN: 175lbs

I would guess the 180-185 range is more accurate and the 168 is a typo.

        • Also, I believe his AAU coach said 190.

We don't have these issues with Eric Hamilton. He posts his size right on his twitter account: 6-9, 220.

            • A twitter follow on a recruit like Markis makes it easy for me to say CF...no thanks. Our commits are all about being a Shocker regardless of distance from home, while they're still in HS, and proud to say it!

Conner isn't a commit. What's to say that he would be the same way, once he made an announcement?

Look at SN, every thread ends up talking about Frankamp somehow! ;)

                    I have no clue. He's obviously a scrub. :(

                    Back to McDuffie.

If you're looking for a chuckle, head over to the VCU forum to see some reaction his commitment to WSU.

                    Super salty, they are!

                    • McDuffie, Taylor, and Shamet have all recently tweeted how excited they are to sign. Hamilton has not tweeted this, but he is equally excited!

                        • Out of curiosity, I clicked on Shurtz's link to the VCU board. Only checked the front page, so I may have missed some things, but it was interesting that not a single person in what I saw mentioned Carl hall. Good restraint, guys.

They didn't seem to care much for Marshall, though; here was one of the more gracious posts:

"Damn. I really thought he would make a fantastic Ram. And it is just impossible to understand how one could prefer to play for Gregg Marshall over Shaka.

Nonetheless, I wish the young man well, hope he has a great college experience with the Shockers, and hope we have a chance to crush his NCAA dreams at some point in the future."

Hmmm... Maybe 3G's results have something to do with it? Yes, Shaka has done well, but it was WSU who got the lead in that ESPN piece about "the year that was" -- and not by accident -- while VCU flew under the radar, if they're flying at all. I do hope they make the tournament, and if they line up with the Shocks on the second (or, what the hell, the third!) weekend, bring 'em on.

At some point, when someone is dealing with emotions or opinions, they might want to stop and face reality. For example, if you can't figure out how anyone could possibly want to play for Gregg Marshall instead of your coach, and you keep watching players choose to play for Marshall instead of your coach, when do you begin to realize that Marshall is the more interesting one? When do you stop and admit that your coach is the one who is not getting preferred? Reality, folks.

All the stuff about Marshall not being so hot gets challenged pretty hard when you see really good players keep on flocking to him.

                            • There are a few rotten apples on every fan board, but for the most part, I enjoy the VCU fan base and always root for them to do well.

Shocker fans believe that 3G is the man and VCU fans no doubt feel just as strongly about Shaka and that's the way it should be. To me the reality is that both guys have done a terrific job at their respective schools and both have shown a great deal of loyalty to their respective schools. I have no idea whether I would personally like Shaka or not. Chances are I would.
