Well, we know that Cotton is leaving so actually you are putting the chance of Baker leaving at less than 50%. I would say that if current reports that place him in the First Round are correct, it is higher than 50%. If predictions move to being a possible Top 15 pick, the possibilities go a little higher.

I'd put Bakers chance of leaving at 40% currently and FVV somewhere much, much lower. Generally, guys don't leave unless they are projected at lottery level. He is currently projected at 20-40. He will need to project better than his current top end projection.

I believe we are in general agreement. Baker may or may not leave. Fred almost definitely will return. We'd like to figure out a way to add McDuffie to the current class.

Not to open up speculation -- we end up with more of that about player moves than we need -- but isn't one of those two guards (Cotton) also one of the seniors, cal?

Regardless, what I'm going by is that the coaching staff still seems to think there's room for one more. Marshall knows the numbers and knows how to make them work, and to do so the right way. So if he thinks there's still room, then there's still room.

Oh, and DJ -- Simon and Zach Bush aren't on scholarship, so if one of them leaves it might open a seat on the Shocker One charter, but it won't affect the roster. Or were you just testing our meters?

I think @calfan: probably meant Baker and Wessel as the 2 guards. They should both graduate this spring.

Van Vleet is being considered as one of the top players in college basketball.

Jay Williams the other day ranked him the #2 point guard in the game.

If I take off my WSU rose colored glasses and looked at what is best for him and Baker,
I would advise both to leave after this year, barring injury.

Their draft ranking won't get better next year, IMO.

I can see it with Ron, I think it's obvious the NBA sees potential in him as a scoring PG.

But unless Fred starts getting hype as a legit 2nd round pick, he only benefits by playing another year at WSU.

The difference between a smart move and a dumb move when it comes to leaving early cuts off after the 30th pick.

Financially, the difference cannot be overstated. If FVV's stock skyrockets to where he is confident he will be picked in the first thirty slots, then it would be hard to condemn leaving early. If he is projected as a second rounder (more likely), it would be very foolish to leave.

Tebow was a point guard? Perhaps that explains why he flopped in the NFL. OTOH, Charlie Ward was a Heisman Trophy winner who did play point guard in the NBA.

Maybe there is hope for a pro career for Tebow yet. Look for him in the NBA D-League.
