Were not going to win 'em all in the recruiting battles and we don't need to. I wish Haanif all the best.

Sorry, guys -- I couldn't help myself. (Besides, Scrabble is fun.) We'll just have to settle for Shake Milton instead.

I actually think we shouldn't make fun of recruit's name on here. I know it is all harmless but probably wouldn't leave a good impression if any recruit or parent decides to stroll by.

Not that I think losing any given recruit would come down to this (we lose 90% and there are a ton more important issues). Still we should just try to put our best face forward.

Probably true, Mad -- I'll try to restrain my comic impulses, just in case. Or maybe I'll send them to Ricky via PM.

In any case, good luck to Haanif; but 1972 is right: no one wins all their recruiting battles, and in reality the great majority probably "lose" most of them, especially if you consider any given offer as entering a recruiting battle for a player -- it's just math.

The key is how well your few "wins" (i.e., offers accepted) work out. And the relatively few WSU offers that have been accepted in recent years (vs. the many that haven't been) have worked out pretty well.

I agree. Obviously this young man has a muslim name. If his parents are Muslim (or if he is), calling him Haanif would be no different than a Mormon naming their child Caleb. We should all practice a little more tolerance for those cultures we do not understand or are not familiar with.

                  Caleb is a Mormon name?

I know a couple Calebs. Not Mormon, tho.

That is a fine Otis. But I think this Otis is a Great Otis. Perhaps even the greatest Otis of all the Otis'esesesesssss:

"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.
