1. The NBA draft prospect rankings are often established before players ever set foot on a college campus. I've said before and I'll say it again, but the recruiting services/star ratings are far more about projecting guys for the NBA than for college, so if you weren't a 5 star recruit coming out of high school, you have an uphill climb to get drafted, regardless of where you go to college, and if you were a 5 star recruit, you have the inside track to getting drafted, regardless of where you go to college.
2. The NBA has a bias against drafting shorter players. There have been plenty of successful short point guards in the NBA, but it makes it really hard to get drafted if you aren't tall, especially in combination with first point. Yogi Ferrell is a good example of why this isn't about school affiliation. In spite of being at Indiana, and in spite of being a highly ranked high school recruit, he isn't getting much love on draft boards mostly because of his size.
As for Seventh Woods -- if he comes to WSU, the NBA won't lose sight of him any more than they've lost sight of Kevin Pangos because he plays at Gonzaga, or of Ron Baker, for that matter. It's a safe bet that not many NBA guys visit Scott City, and that it was Baker's performance -- at little old WSU! -- that caused people to take a second (and third, and fourth) look at him. WSU is NOT obscurity. So if a guy with Woods's "measureables" comes to WSU and plays the way one would expect him to, he'll be right there in the limelight whenever it's time to move on, and he'll probably have been coached up a little bit, too. Does anyone believe that prospective one-year wonder Perry Ellis would have a lower draft stock now if he had been wise enough to come to WSU? Not likely -- and he'd have had a better postseason career behind him, too.Last edited by WSUwatcher; April 6, 2015, 01:23 PM.

From all indications, Joe Danforth is a solid citizen and great father figure who played a huge role in making Fred the remarkable young man and player he is. We owe him a debt of gratitude. But just because he believes a common, and probably false, stereotype doesn't make it true.

Ifs and buts and candy and nuts.

So what are you trying to do, 1979: convince FVV that he made a mistake by coming to WSU, or convince Seventh Woods that he needs to go play for a blueblood and pile up the assists?

Oh, and one other thing. FVV didn't make a mistake coming to WSU. The front courts of blue blood made a mistake of not coming here to play with FVV.Last edited by 1979Shocker; April 7, 2015, 07:07 AM.
